Decompressing and Shock Cardio

Jason and I both took today (and tomorrow) off to continue to decompress from the holidays. We went to a noon spin class. It was short and intense. I also did abs after class for good measure. After the gym we made a much-needed stop by his office so I could pick up a very important package. I've been waiting for this package since around March - Shock Cardio! It was due to arrive Christmas Eve (of course), and Jason's office was closed (of course). So I have had to learn some patience, a virtue I am lacking. I am so excited to have the new cardio options that I don't even know where to begin. I think it's safe to say that I'll be trying out one of these babies tomorrow. I'm thinking Cardio Core Circuit.

The rest of the day was mostly about piddling and just enjoying having the day off together. After getting cleaned up post-gym, we went and ate lunch. Nothing fancy, just a little spot we enjoy. They offer a few vegetarian options, which sure beats most restaurants around here. Jason and I both had gift cards to Barnes and Noble so that was the next stop. I browsed the recipe books, but we both left empty handed. Then it was Target, White House Black Market (sorry honey), and The Container Store (a neat-freaks mecca).

Not sure what we'll be doing for dinner. Feeling very lazy. I cooked off some lentils earlier in the day with full intention of making lentil burgers. Those are still sitting in the fridge and will likely remain there until tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow's post will be more exciting or food filled at least. I think it's safe to say there will be some sort of post-workout report on the new DVD! ;-)

  1. Sounds like a great day. The hubby and I will be doing something similar tomorrow.

You left the bookstore empty handed? Wow, I am impressed. I can't remember the last time I did that.

Can't wait to hear what you think of the new DVDs.

    talk to you later,

  3. Ok, I'm glad someone else appreciates the awesomeness that is The Container Store! I want one of everything, haha.. I am so the 'everything has its place person' too. Did you get anything fun at White House Black Market (also one of my faves)?

  4. Alicia I really can't believe I walked out empty-handed either! Very unlike me. I LOVE books.

Hi Dani glad you like the quote. I'm not normally a quote person, but I really like the message of that one. Thanks so much for stopping by! Let's just say I live in the south.

Alyson my husband just doesn't get my slight obsession with The Container Store. Men... I have to keep myself out of there or I'd have more containers, shelving, drawer organizers than items to contain, drawers to organize, or places to shelve! I did find one thing at WHBM, turtleneck on sale. Not so much fun, as a basic staple item.

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
