Evening Running and Fun Facts Friday - Fashion Finds

Evening Run Yesterday my running partner and I had made plans to go for a run after work. I got off work at 4 and A was getting off at 4:45. We actually work in buildings just diagonal from each other. The plan was that I'd run from my house to her office and she'd just run straight from her office home. I overestimated how long it was going to take me to get there. I guess I thought crossing traffic might take me longer. It was a gorgeous afternoon, but quite a bit warmer (low 70's) than it's been. So back to warm-weather running again.... I donned my new pink compression calf sleeves to test out as well. Again, it was warm. A and I headed down towards the river where there are pedestrian only paths to follow. The downfall of afternoon running is afternoon traffic. Though, A and I were both wanting to take it easy, so lots of stops for traffic wasn't tragic by any means. The other thing about evening running is your fueling is off. I overestimated my water i...

Street to Sweat #PROOF

I thought I might do something fun today and show you my Street to Sweat clothes. And as you can tell, I take terrible self portraits. Dress - Banana Republic Cardigan - Ann Taylor Loft Shoes - Madden Girl via DSW Cap - Nike Top - C9 Champion from Target Shorts - C9 Champion from Target Shoes - Brooks Ghost 3 (dead running shoes) As you can see, I hit the gym for my workout today. I started with 20 minutes on the elliptical then got in back and shoulders and a very short tabata workout. I went with 3 sets of 8 reps unless noted. SS#1 Underhand barbell row Standing shoulder press SS#2 Pullovers Lateral raise SS#3 Double-arm rows Front raises SS#4 Low back extensions - 10 reps Incline rear delt flyes For the tabata, I just chose 4 exercises that I repeated as a circuit twice through to give me 1 round. I repeated twice for a total of 10 minutes. You do each exercise 20 seconds followed by 10 second rest then move direction to the next exercise. Ket...

Super Weekend: St. Patty's Day, Sister Time, Sunshine

Saturday Re-Cap This weekend has been really good. Jason and I started Saturday off with a 4-mile run. It was mostly good. Definitely felt more like my old running self. It started sprinkling too, which was sort of fun - and it felt good considering it was already in the 70's and rather humid. My sister got here around 11:15, so lots of sister time this weekend. We started off the day going shopping. We hit up DSW (big fail, no deals) and Charming Charlie. I found a couple of bracelets and Sarah found several tops and accessories. We were getting pretty hungry, so we thought we'd try to hit up Dugan's. However, being St. Patty's Day (Dugan's is an Irish pub)and a parade going on, eating there wasn't going to happen. It was standing room only, and even that was iffy. We ended up at another place nearby called Dizzy's Gypsy Bistro. They had outdoor seating which was a big score, but terribly slow service. Of course, we were hungry so even minimally slow...

Giveaway Winner & Fun Facts Friday - More Fashion

Food Should Tast Good - Winner This morning started off a little hectic. It started storming probably around 5:45. Luckily it was short-lived, but Heath was still a little out of sorts when I went down to feed him. After he ate, he went outside and proceeded to hide under lawn furniture and wouldn't budge. It's always fun to have to uncover wet lawn furniture in the dark at 6:45 am to try to pull your scared pup out and get him inside. But, it's Friday!  And.... As promised, the winner of my Food Should Tast Good Giveaway is: Jen from Running with the Girls Rest Day = Lunch Date Today was a rest day for me - much needed physically and mentally. I used to be one of those people who dreaded rest days. Not so much anymore. I look forward to the recovery. Since I wasn't working out today, Jason talked me into going out to lunch, something we never do during the week. There is a local restaurant just down the street from us called The Root Cafe . Jason has been a ...

Fun Facts Friday - Fashion Edition 1

I know I mostly talk about food and workouts, but today I thought I'd talk fashion for Fun Facts Friday . We'll call it the Fashion Edition 1 (so unique right??). I think I was born to shop. Now if only I had the unlimited funds to support this little habit of mine, I'd be good to go. Maybe I should be a personal shopper. Just spend someone else's money. I've done a post previously on some of my Fashion Faves . I thought it might be fun to do another one. This one will be all about the clothes and shoes. Though, I could probably do one on shoes alone to be honest. You'll see that I'm fairly brand loyal. A lot of that has to do with where I live too. We don't have an abundance of shopping options. So, I tend to frequent the same stores like The Limited, Ann Taylor Loft, or DSW. I tend to shy away from buying online from brands I'm not familiar with because I never know how something may or may not fit me. I also want to know the texture of the cl...

Hot as Hell 7-miler, Shoe Shopping, Re-fueling

Holy Sh*t It's Hot 7 Mile Run I had thought I was going to take my workout to the gym today. Had it pretty much planned out, and was looking forward to sleeping in. What happened was that I woke up, wide-eyed awake, at just after 7. I had been feeling stupidly guilty for not attempting another morning outdoor run, blaming it on the heat. So I decided to redeem myself and get out there for a run. I brought along extra water in my cooler for post-run. I had a GU packet stashed in my pocked just in case. I was planning to just go slow and see how long I could go. I planned for at least 4 miles and hoped for 6 tops. No looking at my watch was my first rule. Forget about the time, just take it slow and easy. Thankfully there was a breeze today. That made such a big difference. Of course, it was already 90 degrees out so making a difference is a bit relative of course. I actually felt really pretty good for the first 3 miles. So I ended up pushing just a bit farther. On the return, ...
