Running and Getting Crafty

I'm a bit behind on a weekend recap, so this will be more like a training lately and things I do other than running kind of post. In other words, random. Random can be good though, right? Ok, good. Glad you're with me. This weekend started off nice and early for me. I knew it was supposed to be really warm again, and humid. Maddie decided to also assist as my early morning alarm clock. Since I was up, I headed on out the door just after 6 am to get in my long run. It started off fairly decent, around 67 degrees with some clouds. The clouds of course ended up clearing off, but thankfully that was near the end of the run. I managed to get in 12 pretty good miles. The last mile and a half was where I was sort of just ready to be done. But, I had some nice views to get me through the miles. I ended up hanging out on my patio reading and recovering for a bit. I mean, keeping your feet propped up on the lounge chair or in the pool counts as recovery right? My sister ended u...

Getting Thrifty and Creative with Home Decor

I thought this Fun For Friday could be all about creativity - in home decor or crafts that is. Let me just say that I love Pinterest for home decorating ideas. That being said, it makes me want to spend way too much money or start projects I'm incapable of taking on. However, I have gotten some great ideas along the way and actually put some into implementation. I thought it might be fun to share a few things I've been doing around the house and some great steals I've also picked up. Following through with a Pinterest idea - I painted this drawer being tossed out by a friend and it's now acting as a nightstand. Hello free - free drawer and already had the paint. Sorry for the blurry picture. Using  Command Hooks  on the inside of my cabinet to hang my pot holders, freeing up drawer space for dish towels. I also use to hang my necklaces in the inside of the bathroom cabinet. I took old frames and re-painted them then put in a sheet of chalkboard inste...

Exercising, Crafting, Cooking + Gazpacho Recipe

Running & Boxing I was determined to get in a run this week. I have not run since vacation because it's just too hot to run past sun up right now. So, we got up and hit the pavement by 5:45. It was already a steamy 77 degrees humid. I say that  because 77 isn't bad, it's the humidity that's bad. Anyway, we just did 30 minutes at an easy pace. No records being broke, but that's what I wanted that early. I really just wanted to get moving again and to loosen up my legs (still sore from Sunday's workout). It felt great to be outside watching the sun come up too. During lunch I did Cathe's MMA Boxing . It's amazing how high your heart rate can get up there just punching. Free Time = Craft & Cooking Time Getting my workouts done early left me with free time after work. It's so nice to have that extra time after work. It makes me feel like I've had some sort of day that wasn't nothing but work. I started a new project last night, so I ...
