Spin, Storms, Stir Fry

More Spinning Today ended up being another spin day for me. It was super windy and muggy out (we have a major storm system heading in the evening), so it worked out nicely that I wasn't planning to run. Though, I was sort of putting off weights today. It was a good class today, same old track, but good sweatfest nonetheless. Of course, the extreme humidity might have something to do with the excess sweat too ;-) I was planning on getting up and running with my friend again in the morning. Really looking forward to it even though it meant getting up before sunlight. But, he had to back out (sigh). He ran today and is planning on doing an 8K Saturday morning (woohoo!!), so he needs to rest more than he needs to run. I am absolutely ok with missing out on the run if it's for a good cause. Unfortunately, we'll be on the road Saturday morning so we can't be there to cheer him on (or run ourselves). Storms & Stir Fry It looks like we're in for a really bumpy...

Tofu Scramble, Group Ride & Grilled Portobello Sandwiches

Sunday Night Scramble  Last night we ended up having breakfast for dinner. This is a real rarity as I've never been a big breakfast foods fan (other than say oatmeal). I made up an easy tofu scramble with bell peppers, onions, and spinach. I served up some tempeh bacon and half a bagel with peanut butter. Super simple.   I am going to have to remember this meal more often. It wasn't too heavy and you can change out the veggies in the scramble for endless combinations. Monday Spin Today ended up being spin class for me. We had rain chances in the forecast, plus it was going to be too warm and muggy for a run. I was supposed to meet a friend after work for spin, so it was all sort of decided ahead of time: Monday = Spin. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to make it. But I went anyway. It was a pretty good class despite the fact that I've done this one track at least a million times. My legs were talking to me the whole time though. I think they were more tired from ...

Group Rid & Letters to Self

Spin Day Today was spin for me. Though it was another gorgeous day out there. I definitely needed something other than running I'll admit. Unfortunately, just as spin started, so did the onset of a migraine. I stuck out the class. But I know that it certainly didn't help the migraine situation, and neither did my Imitrex. My head was hurting so bad by the time I got to the medicine I just wanted to rip the packaging apart. I have no idea why it comes in huge freaking card that you have to tear into rather than a bottle with a cap that someone in pain might still be able to figure out. I have come to the conclusion that the person who designed the packaging has never had a migraine before. Letter Day Since I'm not thinking exactly clearly today, I thought I might try to do something a little light-hearted. It's either that or the next thing you see is that we're having fajitas tonight and are supposed to meet up with friends for a little celebration before her ...

Spinning & Roasted Veggie & Tofu Salad

Spinning Away the Sickies So, know how I've been saying I've been feeling a bit off. I was actually worried I was getting sick. My friend, Denise, woke up Friday morning with a sore throat and was kind of cruddy the rest of the weekend. This morning...sore throat. I'm hoping its just allergies and that the outdoor run with all the pollen is the main cause of the sinus drainage, which is creating the sore throat. I've taken Zyrtec and tons of vitamin C, and even bought a bag of Halls. And, like anyone denying being sick, I hit up spin class today. I thought a good sweat session would make me feel a little better (or worse). It turned out to be a better workout than I had expected, despite a drippy nose and dryer than normal mouth thanks to the Zyrtec. But I didn't feel worse at least ;-) [begin rant] I must say, maybe it was partially knowing that I was sick and partially because this chick did basically the same thing last week...but why on earth waste time g...

Sweat-tastic Spin & Dinner Made For Me

Sweat-tastic Spin This morning I packed my gym bag for both a run or for a spin class. I had thought seriously about getting in another run after work. But honestly, my legs were kind of tired and the temps were climbing. I ended up going with spin - like that's easier on the legs somehow. I guess I'm just a serious glutton for punishment. Holy freaking sweaty mess. Yikes. I don't know if it was just the Group Ride track being used today or the fact that it was already warm in the gym (or both), but I think I sweated less running in the humid 85-degree weather on Saturday than at spin today. There was track when I seriously wanted to curse (and rejoice) out loud when the interval was over. I will say that the one HUGE issue I have with my gym is the lack of fans. I hear people complain about it, but for whatever reason, no fans ever seem to make an appearance. The way it's set up, the vents are all in the perimeters in the ceilings - the perimeters are mostly windo...
