Fun For Friday - 5 Things to Smile About

Well Thursday totally got away from me. I had meant to do a post about dark-thirty safety, but I'll do that next week. It's Friday and I like to keep Friday light when possible. I mean, most of us are brain-drained am I right? Friday can also be a good time to look back on the week, especially on the things that made you smile. Here are 5 things (for Friday of course) that made me smile this week: 1. Unplanned 10-Mile Run On Sunday, I set out on a run with very low expectations. However, I finally got out of my head and 10-miles later I was in a much better place (and I don't mean sitting at home with my rear on the couch). 2. Quiet Cool Evening I guess this is technically last week, but it's been nice having cooler temps in the evenings finally. Saturday evening I was home alone, well, except for the crazy maniacs (AKA Maddie and Heath). I loved being able to pull on my fuzzy socks and prop my feet up. 5. Fun for Friday - 5 Things I Will Enjoy

I'm sure I don't even have to ask who's happy that it's Friday. That's usually a given right? Though, this weekend we're springing forward so that sort of stinks. I'll appreciate that it's light later, but not that it'll be dark again in the mornings. I was just getting used to seeing sunlight before 7 am. I don't really have a theme for today's Fun for Friday post. So, I thought I'd just do a 5 for Friday list of things I'm enjoying or plan to enjoy. It's Friday, so I'm thinking happy thoughts! 1. Improved Weather. I'm loving the looks of our forecast this weekend and the forecast for my Saturday morning run. A vast improvement from last weekend. 2. Happy Hour with Friends. Definitely looking forward to meeting our friends after work for a bit. It'll be nice to catch up with them and just relax and unwind. 3. Not Having a Race. It'll be nice to not be thinking about weather for racing this weekend...

Not only is it Friday, but we're actually above freezing! And of course this is my rest day, go figure right? Today I thought I would just share 5 Things from the Week for Fun for Friday . 1. Book Anatomy for Runners : Unlocking Your Athletic Potential for Health, Speed, and Injury Prevention by Jay Dicharry (apologizing in advance for not giving a review that does this book justice) This book is fantastic. It's not a book telling you to rest and do prescribed exercises to  overcome an injury. No, it delves into the causes, the root of injuries. So that piriformis pain or knee pain, it's not just about strengthening your hips and glutes, it's about understanding the full connection of the body and also strengthening, say, the multifidi and deep core muscles. This, of course, is just one little example that I thought many runners might relate to. He talks about the various types of tissues and how they are supposed to align.
