Sister Saturday and Super Sunday

Sister Day Saturday Well, I must say that my day with my sister was one of the best ever. We had an absolutely fantastic time together. It was much needed and long overdue. We got in some patio lounge time, Target and Whole Foods shopping, then it was on to the pizza. My half was the typical Greek style. Sarah's half was sauteed portobellos, onions, and red and green bell peppers. Both were mighty tasty I must say. We spent the evening just listing to music, chatting, laughing, laughing, and laughing some more. Running and Lifting This morning we got up and went for a run. Sarah is just getting into running, and this was the first time we ever really ran together. We did 2 miles then did 6 rounds of hill repeats. She still said she loved me after it was all said and done too. Unfortunately she did have to get back home. She cleaned up after the run while I made myself some oatmeal. After she left I finally got to my weights (very reluctantly I might add). Today was 3 sets of 18 r...

Rest Day and Pizza Thursday...Huh?

Rest Day Today was my rest day. My legs are feeling the yesterday's workout in conjunction with the running drills on Tuesday. I finally have some nice DOMS going on for biceps and shoulders today. Lately it's just been triceps that have been sore. Maybe it was the addition of the 21's that did the biceps in. I will say that even with tired legs, it was soooo tempting to attempt a run at lunch. It's so pretty out, although heading into upper 80's. But still, it's sunny, light breeze, ahhhh. My kind of weather. This weekend we're supposed to be cooling back down in the the low 70's. Not sure what that's all about. I think right at 85 is my ideal temp. I am definitely a summer-loving gal. What temperature do you prefer? Grilled Pizza Tonight I had planned on doing grilled pizzas using Flatout bread. Oops, it was bad. Plan B was to make a quick dough (recipe follows) to grill. Oh, but wait...it's only Thursday. Tonight will have to be Pizza Thurs...

Thai Thursday - Grilled Thai Tofu Pizza

Taking the Rest Day is Sometimes Tough Today ended up being my rest day. However, I was really itching to run during lunch. I typically allow myself to enjoy a rest day with no thoughts of exercising. Today was really different though. I so was not in the mood for a rest day for a change. So I kept arguing with myself about whether or not I should figure out how to squeeze in a workout. Anyway, I think a big part of that was wanting/needing to warm up. They keep our building frigid. All I want to do during the summer is just go stand outside in the direct sunshine or, better yet, go sit in a sizzling car. It just strikes me as such an enormous waste of energy and money when buildings are kept so incredibly cool. Yes, I'll admit, I am typically colder than most people. However, when even the men are walking around in coats, Houston, We Have A Problem. Too Much to Do I had a ton of errands that had to be run after work today. I worked through lunch so I could leave early and try to...

Friday Follow Up & Laid Back Saturday

Friday Follow Up Last night was a ton of fun. I always enjoy getting to hang out with my sister. We started the evening off with a happy hour at Big Whiskey's then back to the house for homemade pizza and wine. I had pre-made my usual Wheat Pizza Dough Thursday evening, but we did end up having a friend of Jason's stop by. So, I dug out an old recipe I had on hand for a super quick Whole-Wheat and Honey Dough . This one does not really rise, it's a much flatter, crispier type of crust. But it really works in a pinch. Tim was super nice and brought over some wine to share. It went perfect with the pizza, which no one complained about! One was made up Greek style with sundried tomatoes, kalamata olives, spinach, artichokes, banana pepper rings, roasted red bell peppers, and feta. For the other pizza, half was made with vegetarian pepperoni, sauteed green bell peppers, onions, and garlic. The other half had sauteed squash, green and red bell peppers, and onions. There was no...

Going with the Flow

Saturday was a day of going with the flow and trying to enjoy every part of the day. So, for dinner I decided to make pizza. I hadn't had my weekly pizza fix yet. I have a bread machine whole wheat dough recipe that I like to use. I add a teaspoon of ground flax seed to it as well. I like a Greek style pizza, so my half was topped with artichokes, sundried tomatoes, spinach, banana pepper rings, roasted red bell pepper, Morningstar Farms Chik'n Strips Meal Starters , and feta cheese (2nd picture). My husband likes to do a buffalo wing style pizza. His half was the meal starters, sauteed green and red bell peppers and onions, hot sauce, barbecue sauce, and blue cheese (3rd picture). I top the whole thing with mozzarella (1st picture). I was inspired by Newlywed, Newly Veg's post " Pizza Date Night ." Typically my husband and I eat on TV trays while catching up on DVR'd shows or watching a movie. With so much going on, I thought it would be a really good...
