Re-Commit to Your Goals

I suppose my promises of more consistent posts, new recipes and workouts fell through. Looking back, it wasn't really that it fell through, I simply wasn't making the blog my priority. My focus shifted, and that's ok. It's important to readjust goals, priorities, expectations from time-to-time rather than just trudging along doing something just for the sake of doing it. But it wasn't just losing focus on the blog, it was losing focus on many things. I said that I wanted to step back so that I could spend more time actually living, enjoying life. But I didn't really even do that. Don't get me wrong, I've been making it a point to enjoy the little things. To focus on being more present, trying to not always be thinking ahead. However, I'm a thinker. I think. A lot. My mind is always going with new ideas. New business ideas. New workouts to try, new recipes to taste, new blog posts and informative articles to write. New ways to promote Where...

Fun Facts Friday - Resolutions vs Goals

Working Out on Friday So today is supposed to be my rest day, but since I took the day off Wednesday, I packed my gym bag and took it with me to work. This meant I had no excuse to skip the workout. I worked through lunch so I could leave at 3 pm. This also helped prevent any excuses. I hit the gym for a 10-minute warm up on the elliptical then back from STS Week 2 of Meso 3 . This week the weights increase and the reps drop to 4x7. Underhand rows One-arm rows Pullovers (in lieu of deadlifts) One-arm horizontal rows I added on low back extensions on the stability ball then finished off with 20 minutes on the elliptical. Fun Facts Friday - Resolutions vs Goals Tonight will be our typical Pizza and Pool Friday. It just makes meal planning so much easier on Friday evenings after a long work week. Now I know you all are asking, "So how does this fit in with Fun Facts Friday???" And it doesn't. Just chatting is all. But since you all brought up Fun Facts Friday...

Need New Cardio Ideas, Maybe Goals Too

Cardio Woes This was one of those mornings when I felt like I could have easily slept another two hours. Maybe it's because most of the week I've been waking up at 5 am and not being able to go back to sleep. I am really starting to miss being able to run at lunch. I love summer, and I don't mind it being hot. But, it's just too hot to run at noon now. So I'm starting to feel like I'm flailing with cardio. I can only do so much kickboxing (I only have 3 kickboxing and 1 boxing DVD). Step aggravates my plantar fasciitis problem, so I've been trying to avoid step now. I love doing boot camp/HIIT/interval style workouts, but those are typically short. So what's a girl to do on a cardio-only day? Oh, that was a real question by the way. I have no answer. I don't have any cardio equipment at home. I have gotten to where I simply dread the mere thought of running on the treadmills at the gym. I will say that when we were on vacation and I ran at the co...

Goals and Aspirations

I know that many people are spending the day reflecting on the past year. One blogger buddy ( Allie ), however, got me thinking about a time long long ago. In a recent post When I was a Youngin' , she divulged that when she was a child she wanted to be a grocery store cashier as a child. It reminded me of higher aspirations I once had. When I was about four, my godmother bought me a pair of certified Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader pom-poms. They were as big as me, fluffy, and snow white. I spent hours cheering my little heart out. My mother had been a cheerleader in high school, and I loved loved loved to parade around in her old uniforms (cinched up) with those giant pom-poms. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would cheerfully respond, "A cheeleader." (Yes, the "r" was left off on purpose.) I did manage to attain that goal (though not as a profession). I was a cheerleader in junior high then on the dance team in high school. Then, when I was in th...
