Veggie Soup, Spin, Grilled Salad & Socca

Soup  I do want to thank everyone for their well wishes on a speedy recovery. I know that no one enjoys being sick and sidelined at all. I don't like feeling like I can't do anything. Kind of helpless. And rationally I know that rest is the best thing for me, but mentally it makes me feel like a slug. Having Jason make soup for me last night was definitely a treat. I felt a bit spoiled. But, it's rare that I get sick to the point of spending all day on the couch and not able to make dinner. So, he stepped in and took care of me. Here is what I think the recipe was. Get Well Veggie and Seitan Soup Ingredients: 1- 1 1/2 package frozen Italian style vegetables Handful frozen peas (because they were leftover) 1 package seitan, chopped 1/2 white onion, diced 2 not-chicken bouillon cubes 6 cups water To taste: oregano basil & tomato spice blend, white pepper, red pepper, sea salt 3-4 oz whole-wheat rotini, cooked per package directions Directions: In large so...

Honey Kind of Monday

Feeling Lazy Well, this morning I was a total bum and did not get up to get in any part of my workout. Yes, kicking myself because I was pretty much awake. Jason got up to go swim at 5 am. As quiet as he may try to be, I almost always wake up when he gets up. Oh how I wish I were a morning person. Anyway, I ended up opting for shoulders during lunch. Decided to do drop sets today to shake things up a bit. I've been doing the standard 3x8 for too long I think. It's always good to change things up. I did 4 sets of 10 reps decreasing the weight approximately 10% with each set. Shoulder press Lateral raise Rear delt flye Front raise Front/side/front raise (do front raise, open arms to side, close back to front then return to start) I finished up with ab work from Cardio and Weights . It was a short, fast paced workout. I will admit that I was seriously dreading doing any cardio today. I did get my step set up in the living room during lunch though. This makes it harder...

Run & HIIT Workouts and Grilled Veggie & Tofu Salad

Credit/Debit Card Comments I must say, I am a little shocked at how many of you have experienced credit or debit card fraud too. It's really scary isn't it? You just never know when it might happen. We were very lucky that our bank apparently monitors all transactions with an eagle eye. Since we have almost completely stopped using that particular card, it probably made the crazy expensive purchases stand out more too. Thank you all for your well wishes with the matter. I'm pretty sure it'll all be resolved. WIth any luck at all, the fraud department with pinpoint the super nice person (or persons) who did this. Running & HIIT I slept really soundly last night until about 2 am, then I was up every hour until 4:30 and crashed hard. I didn't even hear Jason leave for swim at 5 am, but I did hear my alarm at 5:26 beckoning me to get up and get my workout done. I knew I wanted to get in 30 minutes this morning, but was totally undecided on what I was going to ac...

Magnificent Monday

Lunchtime Run Today Jason got up to go swim at 5 am. While I was awake, I opted not to do my workout. I've got some serious DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) going on from my workouts this weekend. My legs just felt too have and too stiff to attempt a step workout. I'm glad I didn't try to push through because we ended up going for a 30-minute run at lunch. We had perfect weather again today. It was sunny and 70 degrees. The lunchtime run was great for loosening up my legs and giving me an energy boost. We did, however, do a trial run run with the dogs. Jason has been talking about wanting to take them running with us for ages. They can be a bit spastic though, and I am sooo afraid of getting tripped up and falling when one of them makes an emergency potty stop or stop and smell session. I am plenty klutzy on my own thank you very much. We have a route mapped out that is 1.5 miles from the start of our house back around. So we took them for a jog the first lap. They real...
