On a Boat Recap & Trying for Normal Day

I'm On a Boat Recap Yesterday was another great day with friends and my sis. After Sarah and I hit the gym, we packed up and headed to the lake. Our friend has a family cabin on the lake that we could use. We just expected to be floating around in the lake, but her uncle had a boat that he said we could all use. Let's just say that this song was sung a great deal, in various versions. At one point, we had a "We're on a Raft" version going. And yes, alcoholic beverages did indeed play into this being far more hysterical than it actually was. My friend's family ended up showing up so we did have to share the boat. So in the end, we did just float in the water near the cabin. But absolutely no complaining for certain. Monday Funday Since today is a holiday, Jason and I were both off work. I needed this 3-day weekend in a big way. I actually managed to sleep until 8:15. Of course, this was after Maddie woke everyone up at 6-ish, then 7. Since ever...

Lake Day = Lots of Pictures

Side Stitch This morning we got up early and headed to the lake to spend the day with the family. Jason and I ran a little over 3 miles. It was a really crappy run for me. I enjoyed the scenery and the company, but I kept getting major side stitch, which hasn't happened to me in so long I can't even remember. I think it may have been a combination of the heat and not being hydrated enough. But, I did get it done! Lake Fun After the run, we spent the rest of the day pretty much watching Jason "Monster Tube" with my niece. She'll be 6 in October and has really come out of her shell this summer in terms of trying new things. But, she will only monster tube with her Uncle Jason. He's such a trooper I must say. Oh, there were some cannotball (that's what my niece calls cannonballs) to be done too. We all had to jump first of course, then she deemed it safe. She wanted to jump with my sister and me. Then my dad pretended to get in on the action - I say p...

Summer Fun & Kick Butt Workout

Kick Butt Lake Workout This morning we got up and drove down to Lake DeGray (about an hour away) to meet up with my sister and her kids and my dad and stepmother. Sarah and I decided to do a HIIT workout before we went out on the boat. She's a glutton for punishment too as you will see from the workout. We started with about a 12 minute run. The first half mile is all up hill ;-) After the warm-up run, we did intervals of sprints plyo and/or push ups. Each exercise was done for 20 seconds with 20 second rest in between: Set 1 Sprint Push ups Plyo Jacks Set 2 Sprint Burpees Line taps - rest 60 sec - Set 3 Sprint Squat jumps Split jumps Set 4 Sprint Wide-arm push ups Plie jacks - rest 60 sec - Set 5 Sprint Spider push ups Squat jumps Set 6 Sprint Split jumps Speed skaters - rest 60 sec - Set 7 Sprint Air jacks Walking lunges We were literally jumping for joy when it started to sprinkle. Sweaty mess! Lake In Pictures After that bit of insa...
