DOMS, Running, Indulging

More Blahs Well, I wanted to start by thanking everyone for their concern and well-wishes about my blue day. I won't lie and say that I'm all 100% smiles and skipping about airily today either. At the same time, I am trying not to dwell on it and keep on moving forward. Wallowing does me no good. We've actually had some rainy, gloomy weather here, so that probably isn't helping. But, I know that the key (for me) is to keep finding the positives and to stay active. I have so much to be thankful for and exercise helps give me energy and keeps me from being idle and thinking....thinking...thinking. When you feel down, how do you cope? DOMS and 5-Mile Run This morning I didn't bounce out of bed for a run like I had hoped. Though, I was awake again at 5:27 on the dot. I wish I would have gone at that time, it was only 70 degrees. I can't recall the last time it was 70 degrees! But my legs were feeling super heavy from yesterday's workout - hello DOMS. I...

Super Sunday: Running, Picnicing, Grilling

Saturday Follow Up First of all I want to thank everyone for their kind words regarding yesterday's post. I was extremely nervous about posting those pictures of myself. Also, I should have made note of the fact that I slowly added the equipment over time. I seriously started with as set of 3 and 5 lb weights. Now, moving on... The weather was so fantastic yesterday that we just had to grill out for dinner. It would have been a sin not to. So I pulled out one of my many veggie/bean burgers from the freezer to grill. We also grilled sweet potato "fries" as well as portobellos and onions for topping the "burgers." Even though the pollen was starting to get bad again, we opted to enjoy the opportunity to dine outside. It was a pleasant change of scenery. Sunday Happy Apple Sunday Today ended up being an apple inspired sort of day. This morning I got up and was really craving my PB&J&B Oatmeal . Sadly, I was out of bananas. So I decided to try a Cinna...

Super Workout, Super Saturday

Friday Recap Surprise surprise, Friday ended up being Pizza night at the Iacobacci-Miller household. No complaints from this gal though. It was yummy. We played a few rounds of pool while the pizza cooked, then ate and watched Julie and Julia , well, most of it. We sort of pooped out and have 30 minutes left to finish. Superwoman Workout Today I did chest, back, shoulders this morning using a drop set method. I did each exercise using the same weight, but dropping the number of reps with each set: 12, 10, 8, 6. This is the same set up as last week, but I did increase my weights for all exercises. Chest Flat bench flyes Flat bench DB presss Incline flyes Incline DB press Back Double-arm row (flat back) Pullovers Underhand DB rows Shoulders Standing DB press Side lateral raises  Rear delt press After weights, I did Shock Cardio HIIT 40/20 then the weights only portion of Weights & Plates abs from Abs Circuit. I felt really good today, most likely because I behaved a...

Super Sunday

Super Workout This morning I managed to sleep in a bit, 8:30. Is it sad that that was a goal? I got up and piddled around a bit, eating a healthy-sized bowl of Kashi Cinnamon Harvest shredded wheat with vanilla soy milk before starting off the day with my workouts. Today's weight workout was 2 sets of 18 reps supersetting the exercises. The goal was to increase weights by 1.25-2%. SS #1 Quads - Static Lunges Hamstrings - Deadlifts SS#2 Biceps - Hammer Curls Shoulders - Lateral Raises SS#3 Back - Double Arm Rows Chest - Chest Flyes I was able to increase my weights for all exercises. It was a really good weight day for me. I felt totally pumped. After weights, I did Shock Cardio HiiT Pyramid . Talk about burning out your legs! I also did a pilates-based abs from Abs Circuit , stretched and called it quits. Super (Chili) Sunday Jason and I had a few errands to run. Had I known that everyone and their entire extended family would be shopping at Kroger today, I would have held ou...

Thursday = Early Workout & Easy Supper

Thursday = Third Morning Workout So I managed to get myself up for a third morning in a row to get my workout done. It was a cardio only day. I opted for Cardio Fusion . The last time I did this workout, it felt like a disaster. I struggled to keep my heart rate up. It was just painful. This time, however, I tried to focus on the moment. I stopped myself from thinking ahead to the rest of the day. I don't know if my focus was the cause, but it was a great workout. My hear rate was back up where it typically is for that workout. Time flew by too. No clock watching, not heart rate monitor checking, not thinking about how I needed to get done so I could start getting ready for work, etc. I had planned on abs as well, but was starting to run short on time (the only downfall of morning workouts is that I do have some place to be). Saturday I have plans of going to the track. It's an hour away, and I'll be meeting up with my mom for lunch before hand. So, I may end up having to ...
