Perdido Key Vacation Day 3

Perfect Evening Last night we had dinner at our friends' home. They finished building in December, and we couldn't wait to see it. As expected, it was perfect. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are all one open space. And from the oven/stove, you look straight out onto their huge balcony that overlooks the intracoastal waterways.   This is the view we enjoyed while visiting and eating dinner. As always, they were incredible hosts. We enjoyed much laughter, good food, and good wine. You just couldn't ask for much more than that. Just Another Day at the Beach This morning I got up and headed out for a run right at 8 am. The sun starts to rise so much earlier here than at home, so 8 am is already starting to get warm. Not only do you have the heat, but the humidity and no shade. Yesterday there was a breeze to help keep us cool. Today? No breeze. In fact, the air was so calm, the ocean looked more like a massive lake with virtually no waves. That would b...

Run, Massage & Roasted Veggie Tofu Salad

Back to Running Resting up yesterday along with more rolling and stretching seemed to help my sciatica. It was not nearly as painful today. So, I went ahead with my planned run. As a bonus, Jason went with me. It was a gorgeous day, though a little warm and windy I'll admit, but so pretty out. We set out to do the run around the neighborhood so that it would take up less time than going all the way down to the river trails. I won't lie and say my sciatica didn't act up, it did. But it wasn't unbearable, and we kept a fairly slow pace. I think I really needed the outdoors, fresh air, and the company more than anything. We ended up doing right at four miles before heading in to quickly get cleaned up to head back to work. It was a re-energizing run for me, much needed. Massage I did myself a favor and scheduled a massage for after work. Sounds super indulgent right? But, I'll be honest - I really don't like massages at all *gasp*. I just don't like som...

Spinning & Roasted Veggie & Tofu Salad

Spinning Away the Sickies So, know how I've been saying I've been feeling a bit off. I was actually worried I was getting sick. My friend, Denise, woke up Friday morning with a sore throat and was kind of cruddy the rest of the weekend. This morning...sore throat. I'm hoping its just allergies and that the outdoor run with all the pollen is the main cause of the sinus drainage, which is creating the sore throat. I've taken Zyrtec and tons of vitamin C, and even bought a bag of Halls. And, like anyone denying being sick, I hit up spin class today. I thought a good sweat session would make me feel a little better (or worse). It turned out to be a better workout than I had expected, despite a drippy nose and dryer than normal mouth thanks to the Zyrtec. But I didn't feel worse at least ;-) [begin rant] I must say, maybe it was partially knowing that I was sick and partially because this chick did basically the same thing last week...but why on earth waste time g...
