Fun for Friday - 5 Happy Instagram Snippets

Hello Friday! This week I thought I would do a Fun for Friday Instagram style and share 5 Happy Instagram Snippets from the week. You know, Five for Friday ;-) 1.  Monday morning I woke up to snow on the ground. What? When did Arkansas move to the north? Thankfully it was very short lived, but pretty for the minute it was there. 2. My sweet furbabies lounging in the evening. Well, Maddie doesn't lounge, but clearly Heath has the concept down pat. Must be a male thing. 3. Hard to believe that this was the day after the snow. Hello spring weather and a good run. 4. Fiery sunrises always fascinate me. I might not be able to see this during a morning run since the  time change, but at least I can still enjoy from my office window. 5. Grilling season is in full swing at our house and last night Jason grilled tofu using a sauce I had made for another dish and had plenty of leftover, asparagus and baby potatoes. This was most definitely a nice treat ...

Fun Facts Friday - Sometimes

Wow, than you Friday for finally making an appearance. Show of hands if you thought it'd never show up too! Rather than dwell on the crazy week that's now in the past, I thought I'd just jump right into Fun Facts Friday . Let's put the week behind us and have a little fun shall we? I'm taking a cue from my friend Jessica. She did a post she called Sometimes (Revisited) . Mine isn't exactly revisited, just a list of Sometimes. Sometimes... ... these cuties really are as sweet as they appear here (the dogs not Jason). ... they can be rotten like coming into the kitchen to see Maddie polishing off a to-do style notepad with a magnetic strip on the back. Lip-smacking good apparently. ... they like to play the in-and-out game standing at the back door but going out only to randomly bark, repeat 5 times before they might actually potty. ... they love to get toilet paper or tissues and have both figured out how to push a basket under the coffee table ba...

TGIT - Start to Birthday Weekend

Magnesium? I did have a better night's rest last night finally. No restless legs, or running legs is what my mom always called them long before it had a name, Restless Leg Syndrome. Averie commented that I might try adding in a magnesium supplement. Interested in the idea, I looked it up and indeed, certain deficiencies such as magnesium. Running most definitely can deplete magnesium levels, and I've definitely been putting in the mileage so that makes sense. Thanks Averie ! Back and Boxing I thought I might do back and chest today during my break, but my shoulders are still sore from that workout so chest work wouldn't have gone so smoothly I'm afraid. So I just went with back and 2 combos from Cathe's MMA Boxing . I ran out of time to do the 3rd combo or to do abs. So I finished it up after work. For the back workout, I went with trisets: TS#1 - 3x8 Pullovers Underhand rows Single-arm rows TS#2 Lat pulldowns with band - 2x16 Low back extension on ba...

Another Dog Park Day & Creamy Portobello Pasta

Dog Park for Lunch So today was another absolutely gorgeous and unseasonably warm (80 degrees) day here. Jason and I were planning on either running today at lunch or tomorrow. We ended up agreeing to run tomorrow and taking the dogs to the dog park for lunch instead. I'll admit I was a bit disappointed but in reality, the rest was needed after a leg workout. I believe the run will be better tomorrow because of it, and it's supposed to be a little bit cooler too. We quickly packed up the pupsters for a quick trip to the park. I had my lunch ready and Jason picked up a sandwich from a food truck (some friends own one). Heath was definitely a bit more confident at the park today, though they never strayed far from us. I do find that reassuring actually. I think they had a good time. We couldn't stay very long though. It was so hard to get back to the office because it was just so incredibly beautiful out.       Bath Time After work I had an errand to run before headin...

Soup Sunday, Picnic & Dog Park & Mushroom Monday

Soup Sunday I ended up making a vegetable soup to go with the freshly baked wheat French bread. You just can't pass up fresh bread. I wasn't sure what direction to go with the soup but it ended up being a Vegetable "Chicken" Soup. Vegetable "Chicken" Soup Ingredients: 1/2 white onion, diced 1/2 green bell pepper, diced 2 carrots, diced 1 small sweet potato, diced 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 carton no-salt vegetable broth 1 can no-salt diced tomatoes 1 can chickpeas, rinsed and drained To taste: salt, pepper, red pepper, parsley, basil, oregano 1 zucchini, diced 1 yellow squash, diced 1 package chicken substitute of your choice, diced (seitan, Quorn, Meal Starters) Directions: In large soup pot, saute onion, peppers, carrots, sweet potato, and garlic until begins to soften. Add in remaining ingredients up to the zucchini. Let simmer for about 25 minutes then stir in zucchini, squash, and your "chicken" substitute. Continue to cook un...
