Way to Go Wednesday - I Passed My Personal Trainer Test

TGIW - It's a weird holiday week for Americans - we have Independence Day tomorrow so today is sort of like Friday. I guess that made yesterday Hump Day. But then most of us work again Friday so that's like having 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays. With me still? All I know is that I'm looking forward to a much needed rest day tomorrow - from work and work outs.  I've been having trouble sleeping, lots of tossing and turning, then waking up at 4:30 am. Yawn. Thank goodness we're still having mild weather right now. That gives me something to look forward to with the running - that and meeting up with Amy. It was a gorgeous morning to be out running. Very peaceful. Oh and I saw a family of 6 very plump raccoons scurrying about. Hard not to smile at that sight, or taking a minute to enjoy architecture (the picture really doesn't do this former church justice). I got in 2 miles then met up with her for another 4.5 miles for a total of 6.5 miles. We were both sort of...

Just Livin' and Way to Go Wednesday

Just Livin' Well, I guess it's kind of a low-key week so far. Been doing a lot of studying for my ISSA Personal Trainer Certification. Getting in my workouts. I got in a super chilly, 6-mile run with my friend Tuesday morning. I thought it was spring, and I thought I lived in the South. But, it was a brisk 23-degree windchill kind of morning. Oh, and dark. Gotta love that it's pitch-black again at 6 am...or not. I will say, I won't complain too much because I know that summer will hit in full force before we know it. We rarely have a transition period to adjust. One day it's 40 then the next day it's 80 and it just goes up from there. I've had lots of people continue to ask about Heath . So far he's doing much better. He was even trying to play ball last night. But the vet did say that there's really no follow-up or anything that can be done other than maintenance with new food for liver "health." Eventually, he will succumb to this ...

Vegetable "Beef" Soup and Way to Go Wednesday

Post-Run Soup Yesterday ended up being another weird weather day for us. Saturday was 70+ degrees. Yesterday it was in the upper 20's with freezing rain/sleet/snow. That meant slippery streets, not conducive to a run with my running buddy. I ended up hitting up our work gym's treadmill. I normally hate the treadmill. Once upon a time, I actually liked it though. But there's just something stagnant to me about running on the mill. Also, my former gym didn't allow you to change the TV stations so you had ESPN or CNN. Oooohhh exciting right? Not. Anyway, no one was there (most people left work early because of the road conditions), so I changed the TV channel to the Food Network. Something about running and watching cooking shows that just works for me. Not being sarcastic either. I kept it fairly slow and steady. I ended up hitting 4 miles and made a deal with myself to go to 5 then I could rest and see how I felt from there. At 5 miles, I walked, drank water, towe...
