Sister Weekend - Pizza, Hiking, Chili

Friday Recap Since I was off work Friday I decided to take advantage of the time and the gorgeous day to get my run in at the river trails. It was a cool day here with a steady wind, but so pretty and crisp out. I did wait until about 11:30 trying to let it warm up a bit. I will say I need to work on taking off my running jacked and tying it around my waist and not dislodging my iPod arm band and with a water bottle in hand. I was flailing around let's just say that. Oh, and seriously have issues drinking water when I'm running. I feel like I'm choking or I splash it all over my face. Yesterday I started coughing and spit it all out straight down my shirt. Thankfully, no one was around ;-) Pizza Friday My sister got here just before 5 pm and we decided to try The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium . They literally have hundreds of beers available so we figured they'd have to have a gluten-free beer on the menu. And they did. It was also a different brand (Bard's) th...

Revisting Friday's Post, Hiking, Getting Chores Done

Friday Revisited  So I want to make sure you're seated before you continue reading. Yes, I know you're likely on your computer and are already sitting, but play along for dramatics please. Ok, here it goes, there was no Pizza Friday. Gasp. Don't worry, I'm not ill. I just wanted a change. Our pantry is still low (yes, very lazy and not going to the grocery store), so the pizza was going to be a bit skimpy. Also, I was recently inspired by Dawn @ Florida Coastal Cooking when she made Eggplant with Caramelized Balsamic Reduction and White Wine . So, last night we had Red Bean & Lentil Burgers with Balsamic Eggplant and Onions with baked sweet potato fries. Balsamic Eggplant & Onions Ingredients: 1/4-1/2 red onion, thinly sliced (white would have been preferable) 1/2 Japanese eggplant, thinly sliced (or 1 small) Balsamic vinegar To taste: salt, black pepper, parsley Directions: In skillet, lightly saute onions then add in eggplant and enough balsamic...

Truly a Good Friday

Good Day for New Weight Rotation & Hike It was incredibly nice being off work today. I still got up earlier than I would have like for a day off (7 am). Jason doesn't head to work until at least 8 so I took advantage of him being home to spot me for my chest presses. I got started on my new weight rotation this morning and it was a great workout. I did 3 sets of 5 of the following as straight sets. Chest - Flat bench dumbbell press Back - Double arm row Legs - Squats Hamstrings - Deadlifts Biceps - Hammer curls Triceps - Lying dumbbell extensions Legs - Step ups Shoulders - Military press After my weights I made PB&J&B Oatmeal . Apparently it was National Peanut Butter & Jelly day so good thing this was my breakfast huh? I made hummus and a carrot & cabbage salad that would be used for lunch. I ran a few errands and then met Jason back at the house around 11:30. Carrot and Cabbage Salad Ingredients: 4 carrots 1/2 cup Greek yogurt 1/4 head purple cabbage 2 tb...
