Weekend Recap - Running, Gardening, Tabata

Wow, Monday again? How'd that happen so fast? Rhetorical of course because Monday always happens way faster than Friday. It was a pretty good weekend around here. Nice weather certainly helped. It usually does of course. I'm still trying to wrap my head around warmer running weather though. Saturday we set out for our run around 10 and it was about 60 degrees, sunny. But, I was going for 10 miles and knew it'd warm up significantly. Jason ran the first 5 miles with me. They were nice. We don't usually talk too much, well....I do, but then stop because I realize I'm annoying him. Even not talking, it's always nice having someone by your side. We hit the house at 5 miles. I took a quick potty breaks before heading out for the last part of my run. I assumed Jason was going to stretch then clean up. I had a great 2nd half to my run. I ran into several people who wanted to chat. Kind of awkward, but really pleasant too. I had several fun conversations on my r...

Great Weekend to be Outside - Running, Riding, Falling

We finally had a weekend that was full of gorgeous weather. Not just one day, but both days. It wasn't too warm, either, so it actually felt like spring. Jason decided to run with me Saturday morning. He's not been running much, so he was going for 5 miles. I planned on getting in another 3 after he dropped off at the house. I ended going for another 5 though. My first double-digit run since my half marathon (aka foot blow out) on March 3. It was one of those run-all-day kind of runs. Everything was just clicking and it felt great. My foot held up as well, so that made me feel incredibly accomplished. After the run, I decided to do a little yard work in the form of trimming hedges. Holy back pain. Running 10 miles then trimming hedges is probably not the smartest move. But, I rewarded myself for all my hard work of course! We hit up Pizza Cafe for pizza and to enjoy their nice patio. Perfect spot for relaxing and just enjoying the fresh air. Accidental 14 Mile Run

How does Monday roll around so quickly, but the weekend takes forever to show up? I know, rhetorical question of course. This weekend we actually didn't have any plans. My only plan was to try to get in an 11-12 mile run on Saturday. We have a half marathon in two weeks, and I've not followed any sort of plan. I was just hoping I'd be able to feel up to doing the race period. Thankfully, I've been feeling more human finally after this whole blood clot ordeal. I have ups and downs still, but definitely feeling better than I was a month ago. I haven't really talked much about it because still so much of a waiting game. Clot's still there, but at least I can get out and run, move, exercise, feel more normal. Back to the long run...if you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you already know that I definitely got in that long run, and then some. Jason and I decided to wait until it warmed up a bit. Like 35 degrees. At least the sun was out, but so w...

Super Disconnected Weekend

Saturday I decided to do myself a big favor and disconnect this weekend. I spent virtually no time online at all. And...it was really quite nice. The whole weekend was nice actually. We had a cold front move through so Saturday morning it was only about 65 degrees for my run. It was overcast, so that kept the temps down as well. While I love sunshine, I'm ok with cloudy for running. I set out for my long run around 8:30. I wasn't really sure how it was going to go, how far, or the exactly route. I thought I'd just kind of go with it and see how I was feeling. My first mile was a 9:22 pace, which is what I try to do for long runs - slow and easy is the theory. But, I tend to start speeding up a bit after the first mile, after I start settling into the run. I hit mile 2 at 8:58 and sort of scolded myself mentally. But then I realized, I was feeling fantastic. The pace was perfect. So I decided to just go with it. See how I felt. See what I could do. I know the cooler...

Life is to be Enjoyed

Super Saturday Yesterday was one of those wonderfully random days when I was just happy all day long. Lots of plans? Lots of friend time? Nope. Just a really good, really happy day for me. It started off with a run. The plan was to meet my friend (and physical therapist) for a run. We have been trying to plan a rundate for a while now actually. It finally panned out for us. I'll admit to being both excited and nervous to run with her. I've only ever run with two other people. She's training for her first Iron Man (May 19 in Houston, TX) so she's kind of a badass. I started at my usual spot and met her her the Two Rivers Bridge, which was right at 2 miles for me. A nice warmup. Oh, but warming up was no problem! It was HOT. It was already 77 degrees and insanely humid when I started at 9 am. Hello first sports bra run of the season. A's training plan called for 19 mins running with 1 min walk. But she decided to just run the full distance up to my usual re-f...

Super Weekend: St. Patty's Day, Sister Time, Sunshine

Saturday Re-Cap This weekend has been really good. Jason and I started Saturday off with a 4-mile run. It was mostly good. Definitely felt more like my old running self. It started sprinkling too, which was sort of fun - and it felt good considering it was already in the 70's and rather humid. My sister got here around 11:15, so lots of sister time this weekend. We started off the day going shopping. We hit up DSW (big fail, no deals) and Charming Charlie. I found a couple of bracelets and Sarah found several tops and accessories. We were getting pretty hungry, so we thought we'd try to hit up Dugan's. However, being St. Patty's Day (Dugan's is an Irish pub)and a parade going on, eating there wasn't going to happen. It was standing room only, and even that was iffy. We ended up at another place nearby called Dizzy's Gypsy Bistro. They had outdoor seating which was a big score, but terribly slow service. Of course, we were hungry so even minimally slow...
