Brief Branson Valentine's Post

Last night we were planning on having dinner with my dad and step-mother, but she wasn't feeling great after the drive up. She wanted to just crawl into PJs and relax on the couch. Jason and I thought we would go find a Sushi place. I love wakame. That was a big disaster. Apparently his internal GPS was off and we ended up lost. By the time it was said and done, we ordered pizza from Domino's at the condo and shared with my dad while watching the Olympics. Thank goodness I had a healthy salad lunch!

Today would typically have been weights, but the gym at the condo isn't exactly a full gym, so I just did cardio. I was going to run 30 minutes, but after 22 minutes, my hip flexors simple would not allow it. This is what happens when you go on a running hiatus and then run 4.5 miles. So I hopped on the elliptical and tacked on 30 pushups and called it quits. I did stretch out, but I am definitely going to have to stretch more tomorrow.

We're about to head out to do just a bit more shopping. Today's agenda are the gourmet foods stores. Then we'll have lunch somewhere with my dad and step-mother. Our eating in didn't go quite as planned. At least lunches were the salad bar and breakfast at the condo. I just feel really out of sorts and guilty for eating out so much. Blah. I know I should just relax and enjoy it as it really is a rarity.

I hope everyone is having a great Valentine's Day. Got any special meals planned?

  1. Sorry to hear you didn't find sushi. Maybe you will today.

Enjoy your vacation. You will be back to your routine soon enough.

Nothing special planned here. That is what happens when you are on your 23rd Valentine's Day. Although I did get a nice present from the hubby this morning. ;) He knows me well.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

Kris | iheartwellness it's not often I ever really even want sushi - I mean, I really only get veggie rolls and the wakame anyway. LOL.

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
