Product Reviews

So, now for those product reviews. I really enjoy reading reviews from fellow bloggers. It's nice to hear what other people think about a particular product before buying. It's also really nice to learn about new products that I may never have heard of or tried had someone not taken the time to write about them. So, I thought I would return the favor with a few reviews of my own.

Review 1 - Healthy Cookies
I'll start off with a sweet treat. I LOVE cookies. It's really sad that they aren't exactly healthy for me though. I did find these tasty treats at Whole Foods. The brand is Back to Nature. I had a coupon for buy one box of cookies and get a box of crackers for free, so why not... I chose the Granola Cookies - Cranberry Pecan. They are 100% whole grain and contain no hydrogenated oils, no high fructose corn syrup, and no artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. I absolutely LOVED these cookies. They aren't too sweet, slightly chewy, and completely delish! The down fall is that they are so good because they are 130 calories each (not little cookies at least). It's really hard to only eat one of these. So, I'll likely not keep them in the house because of the temptation factor.

Review 2 - Fruit Bar
I picked up a couple of these Think Fruit bars on clearance at Kroger. Sadly, I found out that they are on clearance because ThinkProducts will no longer be making the fruit bars. However, they do have many other bars to choose from. Now that I have tried one of their products, I will definitely try the others. I had picked up the Apple Noni Nourish flavor. It was a really dense, filling bar made with natural ingredients starting with dates, cashews, apples, raisins, and more natural goodies. Because of the fruit, the sugars are high, but they're not fructose and other such sweeteners at least. I really enjoyed this bar and think that it would be one that I could easily re-create, which is great since they aren't making this one anymore. Have you tried any of the ThinkProducts? Yes, I had a bite before remembering to take a picture. Oops.

Review 3 - Another Bar
I received a special package from Amie at The Healthy Apple, a package containing 4 Larabar Minis. Today I finally broke down and tried one. I chose the Peanut Butter and Jelly as my first ever Larabar tasting. Their products are all gluten, dairy, and soy free and made with whole ingredients. Must taste bad right? Wrong.  I loved it. I was afraid it might be too sweet based on the name. Nope, not at all. It was the perfect mixture of flavors and sweetness. These are dense bars and fairly high in calories so they could be a bit dangerous because they taste so good. I can't wait to try the other flavors now!

  10. Hey! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Nice to 'meet' you. Yeah Katy Mills was brilliant, but I bought back wayyy too much stuff. Do you live in Houston?

I love my larabars, but I reckon it might be because I don't get access to them usually?

Hump Day and More Pineapples

Full-Body Workout  I'll readily admit that getting up this morning was quite painful and almost didn't happen. I forced myself out of bed though not exactly excited about tackling a full-body Pyramid workout. Sort of daunting at 5 am really. I did the warm up from Shock Cardio Cardio Core Circuit (cardio only premix) then hit the weights. It was a pyramid up only so I increased my starting weight. I topped it all off with the first 2 1/2 drills from the cardio workout. I ran short on time and was basically spent. Squats into Plie Squats Step Ups (seriously hate these especially at 5:30 am) Incline Chest Flyes into Chest Press Pullovers into DB Underhand Rows Step Ups (freaking again) Static Lunges Overhead DB Press into Lateral Raises Deadlifts Kickbacks into Overhead Extensions Hammer Curls into Alternating Curls Calf Raises I am so excited to report that my new cross-trainers and running shoes arrived today. Can't wait to test both of them out. I waited way way way too

Hitting the Gym and Lazy Means Creative Tex-Mex Creation

Sunday, Gym Day Why do vacations and min-vacations go by so quickly? Just doesn't seem quite right. Anyway, we left Branson around 9:30 am to head back home. It was a pretty uneventful drive back, which is usually a good thing. We got home and unpacked, then I headed up to the gym. I started with a 10-minute treadmill run to warm up before hitting the weights for back and light legs then abs. I went with a giant set for back then supersets for legs. GS - 4x8 Underhand barbell rows Pullovers Double-arm rows SS#1 Rear-leg elevated lunges (Bulgarian Split Squats) - 3x8 Calf raises - 3x20 SS#2 - 2x8 Walking lunges Plie squats with low-end pulse Single-leg deadlifts - 2x8 I did some ab exercises, stretched, and called it quits. Lazy = Crazy Dinner I may have made it to the gym and washed a few loads of laundry, but I never made it to the grocery store - lounging in the pool trumped grocery shopping. This meant getting creative with dinner. We had another package
