Fun Facts Friday

Feeling the Love
I want to start off by thanking everyone for being so supportive and for all of your kind, generous comments about my blog yesterday.

Friday Morning Workout
This morning I actually got in a workout. My legs are so sore from yesterday's running drills and weight workout. I really just wanted something easy to get them moving and loosened up. There was no way I was going to be doing any step, HIIT or plyo. I chose a kickboxing DVD that I haven't done in ages: Cathe's Kick Max. I also did abs and stretched. It was a fun workout actually (or as fun as anything can be at 5:30 am). This one consists of 4 kickboxing combos (about 20 mins) plus 10 short drills (about 20 mins).

Doing the Friday Happy Dance
Today signified the end of a week of sunshine. The clouds are hanging in thick and heavy and we're in for some stormy weather for the next few days. I'm really hoping that the forecasters have it wrong and we'll have a few spells of no rain. I would really like to get out and run. It's no fun being cooped up inside. We have errands that need to get done, but those are no fun in rain either. Maybe I'll be able to spend some time in the kitchen trying a few new recipes. That sounds better than doing chores ;-)

I made sort of a happy mistake this week. The dogs were scheduled to be groomed today. I was going to go pick them up, which meant leaving work early. So, Wednesday I worked an extra hour to make up for the time. However, that was totally unnecessary because I was going to be working through lunch. I just wasn't thinking clearly on Wednesday (remember drained, in dire need of rest day). Anyway, it worked out in the end because I got to leave work at 2 pm, a nice way to end the work week if you ask me.

Fun Facts Friday

Since I typically don't post Friday dinner or a recipe, I thought it might be fun to do something that's just fun and silly. I'm steeling the idea from on fabulous lady Tina @ Tina Bit of Faith Fitness and Fun  because I have so very much enjoyed reading the tidbits she's been posting about herself. Thanks Tina!!!

So, I thought I might start doing Fun Facts Friday where I share a few fun facts about myself. Feel free to share some fun facts about yourself as well. I guess it can be a "get to know each other" session.
  1. I hate hate hate needles but didn't hesitate to get a tattoo
  2. When I was a kid, I was embarrassed of my last name because I thought people would think that I was lying when I told them it was "Iacobacci" (now I cherish it).
  3. I have indeed danced on a table (or 2). There is an inner wild child in me.
There, 3 fun facts about me. Your turn!

Comments

  1. Those are fun facts! I'd love to play along! How about just one fun fact from me though, and I was reminded of this by your needle fact. In high school and college I got really into body piercing, and didn't stop until I had 20! Most people don't know that about me these days :)

How do you pronounce Iacobacci out of curiosity? That's a totally fun last name! I love my last name too (but that's a secret), I don't want to lose it when I get married so I may just have to hyphenate like you :)

  2. Sarah @ The Ordinary Vegetarian YAY, thanks for playing along. My last name is pronounced like it started with a "y" Yakobachee (like boccee ball). Yep, couldn't give this name up so now I have an even longer name!

  7. Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel Um where's your fun fact ;-) Just kidding. Glad you like my last name. I think it's pretty awesome too! Hope you're having a great start to the weekend.

Thanks so much for stopping by Megan @ The Oatmeal Diaries This site has some good information about HIIT training. It's basically intervals. But you can do them in several way and with just about any cardio. Example: running - run full out as fast as you can for either 30 sec or 60 sec then recover with a walk for the same time period, and repeat. Hope that helps!!

Jessica @ Dairy Free Betty Thanks for sharing your fun facts!! That's too funny that they wouldn't pierce your tongue! Too funny about the Dave thing. So if you have a son, is his name going to be Dave??!!

    1) I last got carded at the age of 41. Needless to say I wanted to kiss the kid. He made my decade. LOL,
    2) My husband and I still act like teenagers in love even after being together well over 20 years.
    3) I may be the only vegan you will meet that will admit that her favorite omini dish used to be veal sweetbreads prepared by our chef friend.

BTW, I would dance on a table today and maybe without any adult beverage courage. Would you?

    talk to you later,
    Alicia

Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean Congrats on being carded at 41! I know I get excited about being carded now at 35 LOL. I have to say it'd take a lot of adult beverages to get me back on a table ;-)

Averie @ Loves Veggies and Yoga You crack me up. I can just picture you swinging from a chandelier, but it'd have to be from a super high ceiling since you're so tall! ;-) Thanks for the recipe btw!!!

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
