I wanted to thank you all for sharing past jobs. Some of you guys have had some really interesting gigs!
Weights & Kickboxing
This morning I got up and made my typical Saturday breakfast: PB&J&B Oatmeal before hitting the weights. Today was push muscles for upper body:
Chest:
Flat bench dumbbell press
Flat bench flyes
Decline dumbbell press
Shoulders:
Shoulder press
Lateral raise
Lying shoulder press (thanks for the idea Alyson @ Nourished Fitness)
Triceps:
Overhead extension
Weighted dips
Double-arm kickbacks
I followed up the workout with Cathe's Shock Cardio MMA Kickboxing and abs. I'm really digging kickboxing after upper body work. To me it is sort of like burning out the legs with plyo. I know...a little crazy huh?
Day Outside
I had a ton that I should have done today. However, I did nothing more than lounge on the patio and in the pool. I pretty much took the day off. It was almost like vacation. The only things I wore were workout clothes, my bikini, then PJ's. No makeup, no hair styling, no chores. It was a great day and I don't feel the least bit guilty. I do know I'll have to make up for it tomorrow of course.
To continue with the day outside theme, grilling seemed most appropriate. The local market (Argenta Market) that carries local produce had a shipment of sweet corn. Jason picked some up, so we grilled that with veggie kabobs (squash, zucchini, and a variety of bell peppers). I finished off my Chipotle BBQ Sauce by (recipe) mixing it with my homemade Chikn' Seitan (recipe) and served on sandwich thins. I made a quick slaw to top the Chipotle BBQ Seitan Sandwiches.
The corn was soooo good. It needed absolutely nothing on it. This was such a summer meal and totally hit the spot for the day. I hope you are all having a great weekend!
omg love the grilled veggies...it looks so summery and perfect!
ReplyDeleteglad you like the seed cracker recipe. so easy and like 1/10th the price of mary's! and you can control the spices, etc.!
thx for your polar/garmin info of course too. I am making myself nuts analyzing it all! LOL
Sounds like a great day to me. Glad you got a chance to relax. Looks like a perfect summer dinner too. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAli
Sounds like an absolutely perfect day!
ReplyDeleteDon't you dare feel guilty about "not doing more". We all need a day to rest & relax, and today was the perfect day for it (I did the same thing!)
Glad you enjoyed! :)
what a great day! Sometimes a stress free day is just what we need! Isn't it nice to skip hair and makeup?
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had an absolutely fabulous day! I love grilled veggies! I have never grilled corn before, but it looks divine!
ReplyDeletexo enjoy your sunday
Looks delish! And I agree - something about a double-burn on a certain body part/area that does some amazing things. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love grilled anything, grilled pizza is amazing! and i love grilled fruit too! glad you relaxed a bit!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to grill the corn fully cased like that! I have never tried it that way :) Goodness when is the last time I fired up the grill? It has been a while!
ReplyDeleteI love relaxing weekends!
XXOO
Averie @ Loves Veggies and Yoga It was definitely a "summer" meal!
ReplyDeleteAlicia @ Vegan Epicurean Thanks! It really felt great to just not worry for a change.
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life For a change I really didn't feel guilty at all. I think we deserve more completely FREE days in our lives.
Lindsay @ Pancakes N Pajamas For me it's almost an indulgence to NOT put on makeup and do my hair. Nuts huh?
Erica @ Fashion Meets Food Oh you must try grilled corn if you like corn!!
Jolene @ To Be Determined Glad someone out there doesn't think I'm crazy for the double burn!!! ;-)
Eden's Eats Oh grilled pizza is the best isn't it???!!!
Kris @ iheartwellness The key is to let the corn soak for a bit and it won't burn up. You must start up your grill girl!
Ok, now that was the perfect day...I needed that yesterday. I, did not have that day. Oh well...maybe next Saturday! I hope you had a great day today!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you took full advantage of a gorgeous day to lounge by the pool and enjoyed the day versus getting those chores done. They'll be there tomorrow, right?? Cheers to fab weekends...how is it Monday already?!
ReplyDeleteThe whole corn in the over or whole corn on the grill trick is amazingly easy and so friggin good:)
ReplyDeleteAnd I KNEW you'd do some kickboxing!! Look at you:)
Sarena @ The Non-Dairy Queen Hope you get your perfect day soon!
ReplyDeleteJessica @ EatDrinkBreatheSweat Chores will always be waiting on me (sadly) so that's why I didn't really stress. Now if I had needed undies perhaps I would have stressed ;-)
Nichole @ Live for the Run There's just something so tasty about grilling corn. Of course I was going to do some kickboxing ;-) great for relieving any aggression!
