Leg Day
This morning I got up and did legs then just 2 of the boxing combos from MMA Boxing and the abs. I had a pretty good leg day. Though, I must admit that I'm not happy with my legs. They just aren't terribly defined, and I can't seem to build any hamstring muscle to save my life. For legs I did the following as supersets, 3 sets of 8 reps:
SS#1
Squats
Plie squats
SS#2
Static lunges
Calf raises (I did 15 reps for these)
SS#3
Step ups
Deadlifts
Slide back rear lunge (using paper plate and dumbbells, 2 sets of 8 reps as straight set)
Weight donkey kicks - 2 sets of 16 reps
It was a good workout over all.
Family Time & Pool Time
Today we went to see my dad and step-mother's new house and celebrate Father's Day. They were busy trying to move last weekend, so we didn't get to get together. We had a great visit, and they are so excited about their new house. They are like kids in a candy store giddy! I must admit a huge jealousy of their storage space. It's sort of funny to be jealous of storage space ;-) But, our house was built in 1890, and we have absolutely zero storage. Apparently they didn't shop quite like I shop back then. Hmmm.
After we got home (around 3), Jason and I headed directly to the pool to finish off the day. After about an hour and a half, we figured we should probably get dinner going. Grilling seemed appropriate, so we made Grilled Tofu & Veggie Sandwiches with grilled sweet and baking potato "fries." There really isn't much of a recipe. I marinated the tofu in a mango ginger habanero sauce I had on hand. The veggies included yellow squash, zucchini, and red and green bell peppers and topped with the Soy Kaas Montery Jack "Cheese." Pretty simple, but so good.
I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Hi there, great blog! Sounds like it was a great workout and that food looks delish!
ReplyDeleteKiller leg workout I am definitely saving that one!
ReplyDeletexo
Sounds like a great day to me. Love the sound of this workout. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSince our house was built in 1896 I can relate to your jealously over storage space. How could someone live without closets? I will never understand that one.
How nice to finish your day in the pool. Now I am jealous. ;-)
talk to you later,
Ali
Ahhhh, nothing better than sweet potato fries! Well, actually yes, the pool is probably better...so the fact that you had both today sounds like a fantastic day! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sandwich looks SO tasty! Yum! Sounds like you had a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteRe: kale salad-- I used to be intimidated by it, and thought it would taste gross, but "massaging" it really does mellow out the flavor, somehow! Give it a try!
I have actually never grilled tofu before!! Sounds like a perfect dinner.. I'll have to try it :)
ReplyDeleteI love sweet potato fries - yum! Also, I love grilling tofu - such a great way to eat it!
ReplyDeleteDinner sounds delicious! I hear ya on the storage space...there is never enough! I wish m legs were more toned too! Mostly my booty and the front of my thighs. Let me know if you come up with some magical potion! Have a great night!
ReplyDeletei guess we both celebrated fun belated father's days :) and good old family time!!
ReplyDeleteand sweet taters too :P
im always jealous of ppls storage space. all these thoughts burst into my head about what i could transform it into.. like mini makeovers lol <3
I need to do this leg workout!! Sounds freaking amazing!
ReplyDelete3 o'clock pool time sounded wonderful and this dinner....perfect summer meal!
xxoo
I miss the pool, I dont remember the last time I was in one...how sad is that, and I live in Los Angeles where its 72 and sunny all year round. My dad comes home tonight so I'm celebrating fathers day late as well. As for legs, I have the opposite problem, they are very muscular, although its mainly genetics. I am a pro at the step mill, but I feel like they are TOO bulky. I need my abs to get flat and buff up my spaghetti arms!
ReplyDelete"Apparently they didn't shop quite like I shop back then. Hmmm. "--LOL!
ReplyDeleteAll CA houses are tight and cramped on storage too! It's good i hate clutter...there is no where to store it!
Those grilled veggies look so delicious, great dinner! My house is a custom built home and the people that built it must not have liked to shop either...LOL...small closets and I just can't understand that!
ReplyDeleteGreat workout! I bet your quads are growing, btw. Mine only pop when I'm really, really, lean so sometimes I just go on faith that those suckers are building even when I can't see em!
ReplyDeleteKeri @ The Blue-Eyed Runner Thanks so much for stopping by and so glad you like the blog!
ReplyDeleteErica @ Fashion Meets Food Let me know how you like it please!!!
Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean So glad someone else understands storage envy LOL!!!
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life I think I could eat sweet potato fries every single day. I think I could lounge in the pool every day too LOL ;-)
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg Thanks for the massaged kale tip!
Megan @ The Oatmeal Diaries I love grilled tofu. It makes it just a bit crispy - yum.
Courtney @ Three Months Thanks so much for stopping by - I look forward to checking out your blog.
Sarena @ The Non-Dairy Queen LOL - If I come up with a fantastic magic potion I'll be one rich lady ;-)
Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel Sounds like we had very similar days! Oh my mind was in overdrive thinking of what I would do with my dad's house.
Kris @ iheartwellness This workout actually went by pretty quickly I must say. Let me know if you ever give it a shot. I think 3pm pool time should be a daily must ;-)
Eden's Eats I just can't imagine summer without my pool. I shouldn't complain too much about my legs. When I danced (ballet) they were really big for my size and I couldn't find jeans to save my life.
Averie @ Loves Veggies and Yoga I will say that I've gotten super creative as to where and how things are stored!
Bela @ It's Life, Max it Out If I ever build a house, it's going to have some major custom storage!!
Joanna Sutter @ Fitness & Spice LOL - that's what I think I'll do then, just trust that they're there ;-)
GREAT workout!!! :)
