So I Lied - A Saturday Post

On the Road
Ok, so I lied about not blogging today. I thought I was going to be too exhausted from the drive (and too depressed not staring at the ocean). This will be brief though. We had a decent drive back. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I was going to be sick to my stomach. That lasted until about 11 am today. Not sure what was up, but I felt so queasy. Maybe it was beach sickness (similar to homesickness).

We headed out around 7:20 but had to make a stop first. Some friends have property in Perdido Key that they wanted us to go check on and take pictures of for them. It was a lot with a trailer and they had the trailer raised and moved so they could start building. I am so jealous of the views they'll have of the inter-coastal waterways. So we didn't really get going until a bit closer to 8. We made a gas stop then another lunch stop and that was that. We are all about hitting the road and not stopping until we must.

What kind of traveler are you?

Friday Make Up
Tonight I am making up for Pizza Friday with real pizza. I am making my homemade wheat dough. Jason made a quick trip to the store for a few fresh veggies as the fridge is fairly bare. Speaking of making up for Friday posts, I totally forgot Fun Facts Friday yesterday until I read my good friend Alicia's post. We'll blame it on too much sand and sun.

Since I spent the week on the beach, I'll try to do a few fun facts about the beach:

1. I love the beach and the ocean, but never wade farther out than my calves.
2. I am a sunaholic, but use massive amounts of 50spf and spend the majority of my time under and umbrella.
3. I have red hair, but tend to tan (Italian genes) so most people think I dye my hair.

Ok, those might not be just super fun...but we'll blame it on sand and sun again. Now, tell me something fun or factual about you and the beach. I'm all ears!

  1. Looove the beach! Grew up in Southern California where I was in the water so much, my hair turned practically white! Um, about your tummy-sickness...eh, er, could it be? I mean, are you "late"? Um, just a possibility or not???? Let us know!

Glad you had such a great beach vacation. I grew up not too far from the beach, but didn't go very often as a kid. I went more with friends once I was a teenager. Now that I live over two hours from the beach, I long to go there more often.

  6. I'm the same way - I love the ocean but only wade in (partially cuz of the can't-swim factor!) too ;)

I grew up on Lake Michigan and we used to summer in South Carolina on the beach. I love being near the water. Sharks however are another issue. Like you I don't go too deep into the ocean. Growing up my favorite workout was running on the beach. Even now when we go to Italy I need to spend a little time in Capri or on the Amalfi Coast. Clearly I have beach issues, LOL.

Glad you had a safe trip home.

  9. Oh, I hope you are feeling better! I totally understand beach sickness. I am totally suffering now after all of your pictures! I miss it so much. We used to spend every summer at the beach when I was a kid! I am totally a get there kinda gal! I hate stopping and wasting time! We did not do pizza night either and I think we are about due too!

  10. BlessedMama My hair definitely starts to take on more blond the longer I'm in the sun. Nope, no babies in the future. I think it was just a week of eating things I normally don't (like pretzels and too much cheese).

Kalli @ Fit and Forty Something I actually used to play in the ocean when I was a kid too. Not sure what happened that made me not want to venture out too deep. Oh, and the pizza was good!

Averie @ Loves Veggies and Yoga Yep, we stop for pee or gas and that's it! LOL I totally need to relocate myself.

Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg We should have gotten married on the beach! I adore your wedding pics by the way.

Lisa @ Lisa's Foods on the Move Oh if I were only 2 hours from a beach, I'm thinking there would be many extended weekend trips during the summer!

Jolene @ To Be Determined Um, if I couldn't swim I most definitely wouldn't be wading out very far!!! ;-)

Effie @ Greek Tomato I would love to visit Greece one day. The pictures I always see are absolutely amazing.

Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean I can't even imagine how fantastic it would be to run along an Italian beach....ahhhhhh

Sarena @ The Non-Dairy Queen I'm totally with you on not wasting time. Just get me to my destination then I can waste time! Hope you get your pizza soon!

Hump Day and More Pineapples

Full-Body Workout  I'll readily admit that getting up this morning was quite painful and almost didn't happen. I forced myself out of bed though not exactly excited about tackling a full-body Pyramid workout. Sort of daunting at 5 am really. I did the warm up from Shock Cardio Cardio Core Circuit (cardio only premix) then hit the weights. It was a pyramid up only so I increased my starting weight. I topped it all off with the first 2 1/2 drills from the cardio workout. I ran short on time and was basically spent. Squats into Plie Squats Step Ups (seriously hate these especially at 5:30 am) Incline Chest Flyes into Chest Press Pullovers into DB Underhand Rows Step Ups (freaking again) Static Lunges Overhead DB Press into Lateral Raises Deadlifts Kickbacks into Overhead Extensions Hammer Curls into Alternating Curls Calf Raises I am so excited to report that my new cross-trainers and running shoes arrived today. Can't wait to test both of them out. I waited way way way too

Hitting the Gym and Lazy Means Creative Tex-Mex Creation

Sunday, Gym Day Why do vacations and min-vacations go by so quickly? Just doesn't seem quite right. Anyway, we left Branson around 9:30 am to head back home. It was a pretty uneventful drive back, which is usually a good thing. We got home and unpacked, then I headed up to the gym. I started with a 10-minute treadmill run to warm up before hitting the weights for back and light legs then abs. I went with a giant set for back then supersets for legs. GS - 4x8 Underhand barbell rows Pullovers Double-arm rows SS#1 Rear-leg elevated lunges (Bulgarian Split Squats) - 3x8 Calf raises - 3x20 SS#2 - 2x8 Walking lunges Plie squats with low-end pulse Single-leg deadlifts - 2x8 I did some ab exercises, stretched, and called it quits. Lazy = Crazy Dinner I may have made it to the gym and washed a few loads of laundry, but I never made it to the grocery store - lounging in the pool trumped grocery shopping. This meant getting creative with dinner. We had another package
