Back, Chest, Abs...Oh My
Jason was getting up early to head to his master's swim class then for a bike ride, so I knew I'd be getting up early one way or the other. Today I had planned on back and chest, but since I didn't have a spotter, that meant I'd have to go lighter with my chest work. So I decided to superset chest exercises to up the intensity to make up for the lower weights. Well, it worked. Essentially I was doing 16 reps for chest for 3 sets. Burn baby burn! I did 3 sets of 8 reps of everything except as noted.
SS#1
Flat bench chest flyes
Flat bench DB chest press
SS#2
Flat back double-arm rows
Underhand band pulls (band in door in lieu of pull ups, not sure what this is really called - did 10 reps)
SS#3
Incline chest flyes
Incline DB chest press
SS#4
Pullovers
Underhand DB rows
Pushups on stability ball - 24
Lat band pull downs - 16 with blue band
I did some basic ab work with and without weights while waiting for it to get light enough to run. I hit the pavement right at 5:50 and ran for 20 minutes. It was so humid and I was really regretting that I forgot to grab my hat (to soak up the sweat, ick right). My legs felt really heavy initially, but the loosened up, and I had another really good run. Total time for workout (with brief stretch) was 1:05. I should have noted that yesterday's was 1:07 because I know it probably sounded much longer than it really was.
We're Boring Folks on Fridays
Tonight will, of course, be Pizza Friday, so no new recipes or food pictures. We're fairly boring people, and rarely go out so I feel like I don't have much to report or share with you on Fridays.
Tomorrow, however, will be a super busy one for us. We are planning on another lake day with the family. We'll need every bit of that water too as the highs are predicted to be 100. I'm hoping to get in a run at the very least, and I plan on trying to persuade my dear sis into another interval workout. Jason already said no way.
We're also supposed to have dinner with some friends. We're very much looking forward to this. It's actually my former dance teacher and his wife. Antonio is an amazing cook and always makes me a fabulous vegetarian (usually vegan) dish. I feel so honored to have someone go out of their way to make sure I get a superb dinner as well. It really means a lot that he takes the time to think about my needs.
For those of you who are vegetarian, vegan, or have food allergies, do you have any friends who make special meals for you? Somewhere you can go and not worry about what you'll end up with? It's such a refreshing change I must say.
Fun Facts Friday - Versatile Blogger Edition
Kat @ Bubblegum Gym Kat and Kris @ IHeartWellness both passed along The Versatile Blogger award to me. This may seem trivial to some people (probably not you guys) but this really means a great deal to me. when I started blogging, I had absolutely no clue what to expect. I feel very honored that any one of you read my blog. So getting these "awards" really is special to me. So I truly do thank you both.

Happy Happy Friday!
Sounds like a fun weekend-- I want to go to the lake!!! I miss it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your (vegan!!) dinner with friends!
Congrats on the award. :) I'm celebrating pizza Friday as well.
ReplyDelete1) I'm terrified of large animals.
2) A sink with even one dish or spoon in it drives me absolutely nuts and I must wash it.
I hope you have a great weekend at the lake with the family.
ReplyDeleteI miss my convertible SO much. It is very hard to go back to a hardtop after having a rag top for so long. *sigh*
As you know we have a chef friend that caters to us when we go out. We are very spoiled in that respect. ;-)
enjoy your weekend,
Ali
Sounds like a fun weekend! Hope you have a fabulous one! I have been trying to do your booty kicking workouts lately!

Aw that's so sweet of him to whip up a special vegetarian dish for you! Whenever someone cooks for me, they have to take care to make sure my meal has absolutely no contact with nuts, so I always appreciate that!
ReplyDeleteHahaha I love the description "lazy neat freak". That describes me perfectly!
You are so NOT boring! :) A lake weekend sounds divine. Out here in bum freakin' nowhere Illinois, very few people have boats and boating is one of the top things I miss about living in the southeast. Have some fun for me!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend's parents always cook a boatload of veggies and other elaborate vegetarian dishes that I can eat when dining at their house(thankfully!).
I have the same cuticle picking habit! :) Hmmm...two other random things about me...
1. I'm learning to read palms for fun. My hand says I'm going to have two children and live to be in my late 70's.
2. I HATE driving. Whenever possible, I let someone else drive.
It was pizza Friday here too!
ReplyDeleteNot long ago I read an article that talked about making daily lists for things you are thankful for, proud of, and goals. It's something I'm thinking about doing.
Thank you for the award. Yea! We are boring on fridays also. Home cooked meal and relaxin'.
ReplyDeleteI must send you a blondie brownie and a kombucha for you to try! You'll be hooked. :)
I am so #5! I love it!!! Have a great weekend lady...enjoy some down time!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the award - it made my night! Have a great weekend, I haven't had a lake day yet this summer and I think I'm overdue!
ReplyDeleteomg i love that u coined the term " lazy neat freak " haha explains me perfectly. so true tho!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Sounds like fun! I am so jealous of your lake time:)
ReplyDeleteAnna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg I can't imagine not living near the lake!
ReplyDeleteKrystina @ Organically Me Hope you had a great Pizza Friday! YUM. Large animals huh?
Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean There's just something so free feeling with the top down isn't there??? I know, I am sooo jealous you have that awesome set up with the chef friend.
Erica @ Fashion Meets Food Thanks girl - I hope you're having a great weekend too. Good job with the booty kicking workouts ;-)
Chelsea @ The Healthy Munchkin Luckily I don't have any allergies to add to the vegetarian request. LOL - glad I'm not the only lazy neat freak ;-)
Laura @ B Foxy Fitness That's great that his parents make sure to have goodies for you. Palm reading?? Very interesting.
Kara @ My Wellnest Thanks for stopping by. High 5's on Pizza Friday. My favorite day of the week LOL. I look forward to checking out your blog!
Lindsay @ Cotter Crunch You're very welcome. I could definitely go for some of those blondies.
Sarena @ The Non-Dairy Queen Hope you have a great getaway weekend yourself.
Sarah @ Run Sarah You totally deserve the award! Hope you're having a good weekend.
Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel I think we should form a support group for all the Lazy Neat Freaks in the world ;-)
Candice @ ChiaSeedMe I'd most certainly invite you along if you were just a bit closer!
Love the fun facts and congrats on the award :) I love the moniker lazy neat freak, um, me too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise! Thanks for the award!!! I would definitely say I'm a lazy neat freak, too. :0 I do not have anyone who cooks food I can eat regularly, besides my immediate family. I've had a few nice meal gestures in my life, and I'm always sooo grateful. It usually ends up being someone I never would have expected to think of such a thing.
ReplyDeletehaha I think I'm a lazy neat freak too ;-) Great workout again, I can't imagine running after a weights session, I'm sure my legs would be dead weights too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for passing the award on to me :-)
ReplyDeleteI am a lazy neat freak too. When I do feel all motivated, its always in the early morning. Then either work gets in the way, or other things on the weekends. On the rare weekend we don't have a ton planned, then I get about half the stuff done that I need to. It's all in my head, but it never all actually happens, I usually run out of neat motivation around noon.
I want another cocker. My childhood Cocker was wonderful, we lost him 3 Easters ago, I still miss him. My dad hasn't been the same since, Sheldon was his best buddy.
