Wrestling and Amazing Grass

Ballgame Recap with Midget Wrestling

Last night's game was much better than Thursday's game. It was still hot, but there was a stronger breeze blowing through that helped tremendously. Even better, we won. That certainly can't hurt. The game started later than the normal 7:10 start time because of Midget Wrestling. Yep, you read that correctly. This is Jason's day to go to the ballpark. We hadn't planned it this way, we just got "lucky." I think it's totally obnoxious, but he gets a big kick out of it. Here are a few pictures of the wrestling then of me and two of my friends and then me and Jason. I goofed and didn't get a picture of the guys.

Very intense moment.
No words to describe.

I have no idea why I am leaning in so far.
Thank you dear for putting the beer down for the picture.

Chest, Back, Abs Oh My
I kicked my day off with a good chest and back workout. I did drop sets of 4 sets of 8 decreasing the weight in between each set with no rest.

Dumbbell chest press
Dumbbell chest flyes
Incline dumbbell chest press
Incline dumbbell chest flyes
Pullovers
Double-arm rows
Underhand rows
Lat pulldowns with band 2x16

I then opted for Cathe Friedrich's HIIT Pyramid then abs from an oldie but goody, Power Hour.

Lazy Saturday
It was another scorcher so pool time was a must ;-) I lounged and read for a few hours while Jason mowed the weeds. I think the only things growing and green are weeds. Everything else is dead. I did managed to get through a few loads of laundry, swiffer the floors, and straighten up a bit - all done in my comfy PJs.

I also spent a good chunk of the day working on my blog. I have moved my "About Me" section to it's own page, still need a photo, and have started on the Recipes page as well. I had no idea I had so many recipes. This project may take me a while to complete.

Since we didn't get to celebrate Pizza Friday, we'll be having Pizza and Pool Saturday. I plan on starting the dough while we play a bit of pool and just relax. Jason is supposed to be doing a triathlon tomorrow morning at Lake DeGray, so it will be a very low-key evening for us. He'll be getting up super early for the hour drive there. He hasn't registered yet either, so that means he has to get there even earlier than he normally would.

Amazing Grass Review
Recently I received a package from the folks at Amazing Grass to try. I have been seeing and reading a lot about their products recently, so I was really excited to give the a try. Here are the items I received:

Amazing Meal:
Chocolate Infusion
Original Blend
Pomegranate Mango Infusion

GREEN SuperFood:
All Natural Drink Powder
Berry Flavor Drink Powder
Chocolate Drink Powder
Organic Wheat Grass Drink Powder

4 Bars:
Whole Food Energy
Berry Whole Food Energy
Chocolate
Chocolate Peanut Butter

Today I decided to sample the Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar . It as 12 grams of protein and 270 calories and an amazing list of organic ingredients. I had no idea what to expect as I cut into the bar. It was an interest green on the inside, a bit scary to be honest. However, it tasted great. It wasn't terribly sweet, which was a good thing and not overly chocolaty either, another good think in my book.

Jason took a bite and said, "It tastes like health food." But that wasn't meant in a bad way mind you. You are eating it and can taste that it's not filled with a ton of over-processed crap basically. This particular bar had a slight raspberry undertone that was really a nice surprise. I can't wait to try the other samples now.

Do you have a particular favorite or any recipes using any of these products?

Disclaimer:
  • I received these products as free samples from Amazing Grass.

  1. Tony would have loved the midget wrestling too. UGH! Glad you had a great night and a productive day. I have yet to do anything productive! Now I feel like a total loser. I have been loving hemp protein powder lately. I don't do smoothies (I hate drinking my calories), but I make fudge truffles with them. I am not a huge chocolate person, but I have realized that I like chocolate just fine, just not overly sweet stuff that is chocolatey. Have a great night and good luck to Jason tomorrow!

  3. Midget wrestling must be a guy thing. I don't get it either.

I have never tried the Amazing grass products so I can't help. =(

I love your disclaimer about healthy items. Some of the things I have turned down for review have been really unhealthy. Vegan mind you but nothing I would eat. ;-p

Good luck to Jason tomorrow. I hope the weather cooperates.

    Enjoy pizza Friday on Saturday.

  6. LOL! That is too funny about the midget wrestling. I can't say I get the appeal of watching it though. :P

I just recently bought some single serving packs of the Amazing Grass Green SuperFood to try out! I had the chocolate one in a strawberry smoothie and it was pretty tasty. I have a feeling it would have been even better in a banana smoothie though!

  9. I felt so drained today! But my weekends tend to be busier than weekdays so I dont feel I need to be as productive. Are you familar with Chelsea Handler? she calls midgets"nuggets" so now I'm like obsessed with all things "nuggets". LOL I am so short and little I feel like midget myself someimes

  10. Sarena @ The Non-Dairy Queen I think the midget wrestling is mostly a guy thing. Interesting about liking chocolate when it's not terribly sweet. May need to try that myself.

April @ The Weigh I Am I have actually never done the original Body Max. I love BM2 though.

Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean Have you ever looked at the products? Pretty interesting. I'm looking forward to giving them a try at the very least. Maybe find some new recipes in the process ; -)

Jolene @ To Be Determined I guess I'm used to taking pictures up close at the game & Jason actually stood in the aisle. I'm such a dork.

Lindsay @ Cotter Crunch Oh yes, this stuff will be great for travel most definitely. Thanks for the suggestion of putting the powder in the oats too. I just have to roll my eyes when it comes to the midget wrestling thing.

Chelsea @ The Healthy Munchkin Ohhhh choclate strawberry - good idea.

Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel LOL - somehow, I can picture it too ;-)

Tina @ Faith Fitness and Fun Glad to know I'm not the only one who does that!

Eden's Eats I hear you on being short and feeling like a midget sometimes LOL. My husband is 6'2" and I'm 5'2" so unless I'm in heels, I feel like a total runt.

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
