Fun Facts Friday - Guilty Pleasures Edition

Working out After Sleepless Night
Ugh, last night I slept terribly for multiple reasons. I woke up around 12-ish and didn't fall asleep again until close to 3, then up at 4:50. I seriously have to find a new pillow this weekend. I keep trying to find one around the house that will work, but I'm spending my nights fighting with the stupid pillows and being uncomfortable. Also, dear sweet Madeline decide to eat her bed in her kennel. That dog will eat anything - no lie. So for whatever reason last night, she decided to treat the bed as a giant stuffy chew toy. And of course I could hear this commotion. GRRRRR.

Anyway, I did reset the alarm, but since I wasn't sleeping, I just when ahead and got up to get my workout done. I started off with Cathe Friedrich's Cardio Fusion. I only did about 30 minutes of it before moving on to weights and abs.

I know I've said it a million times, so before I get called out - yes, I recommend doing weights before cardio. However, at 5:30 am, I am not awake enough to safely lift anything heavier than say 5 lb. So, I used the cardio to wake myself up. I actually was debating with myself about doing cardio only then doing the weights at lunch. In the end, I decided I really just wanted to get it all done and over with for the day. It is Friday after all. So for triceps I did 2 sets of supersets of 3x8 (I know, I know, must change things up next week).

SS#1
Overhead triceps extension
Double-arm kickbacks

SS#2
Lying dumbbell triceps extensions
Weighted triceps dips

I finished off the workout with abs from and oldie but goody, Power Hour. I was running short on time, so I needed a shorter ab workout. This one fit the bill, and it's one I've always liked for some reason. It's pretty straight forward, just short, sweet, to the point.

The workouts actually gave me a nice energy boost - for a while. All that energy plummeted around 10 am though, and the workouts seemed a distant memory. Thank goodness I was busy or I might have been snoozing on my keyboard.

Fun Facts Friday - Guilty Pleasures

While wide awake in bed, I started thinking about what I wanted to do for Fun Facts Friday. That definitely didn't help me go to sleep by the way. For no rhyme or reason, I settle upon Guilty Pleasures. Well, it may have been because I was freaking hungry (also doesn't help with sleeping) and was thinking of food. So, for Fun Facts Friday let's discuss Guilty Pleasures:
  • Turning up the music and dancing with abandon.
  • Watching Big Brother (though this season kind of sucked).
  • Cookies, need I say more.
  • Pizza, again, no words needed.
  • Being in my PJs by 4:30 pm (and 6:30 on a Friday night, wild and crazy).
  • Laying out during the summer. Yep, it's bad, I know. I wear sunblock at least , no lectures please.
  • Shopping. I would like to shop for a living. I'd be really good at it.
  • Shoes. I am a total shoe whore.

Your turn - tell me your guilty pleasure(s)!

One last thing - I must give a huge shout out to my good pals Jessica and Jolene as they take on their first 1/2 marathon (The Wicked Half) tomorrow. I'm seriously proud of you girls! You guys are "wicked" awesome and haahhhhd core (hope I used that right LOL).

Let's Have Coffee

If you're a regular blog reader, I'm sure you've seen similar posts, scenarios if you will, about what we might chat about or what I might say if we sat down and had coffee together. I think these can be fun. Maybe fun isn't the right word choice exactly. But maybe it is? They're transparent, showing who the blogger really is ... if they're being honest of course. It's not often you truly get to sit down with the person behind the blog. Banana Nut Biscotti with Banana Glaze If we were to have coffee together ... I would first let you know that I'm not a super fan of coffee. I drink mine with hot cocoa and it's mostly out of habit rather than the need for caffeine. I could forgo it on the weekends entirely. Since we're talking coffee, I would also let you know that I've never ordered coffee from Starbucks and only once from a true coffee shop. I've only been into 2 Starbucks shops - the original in Seattle and one in town wher...

KIND Bar Review + Apple Raisin Wheat Berry Salad

Weights & Step As much as I wanted to run today, I knew there was no getting up early enough to do so. Monday's are hard enough without getting up at 5 am to run. Yawn ... So, today I did my weights at lunch then cardio after work. Weights were pull muscles (biceps and back). I did 3 sets of 8 reps of the following: Biceps : Alternating curls Cross-body curls Zottoman curls Back: Single-arm horizontal row Underhand DB rows Double arm rows It was a pretty good workout. I felt pretty strong today for some reason. Love it when that happens. My legs were pretty sore from yesterday's workout, so I opted for a lower intensity cardio: Cathe's Low Impact Circuit - Cardio Only Premix plus abs. It was a great workout and helped to loosen up my legs. KIND Review I have been very remiss with my review of the KIND bars that I won from Jill @ My So Called Health LIfe . I won the Nut Delight. I don't know why, but I expected it to be a tad softer...

Jewelry and Overcoming the Fear of Failure

I guess I can blame this little hobby on Pinterest - jewelry making. More specifically, metal-stamped jewelry. Wasting time, skimming through Pinterest or seeing people posting pics of metal-stamped bracelets or necklaces, I thought, "hey, surely I can do that." So I started pinning ideas, looking up how-to videos, ordering the tools. Boxes of tools, gadgets and goods started arriving on the daily. I know my husband was really excited. Yep, I was going to do this! I felt like the child set free in a toy store. I didn't even know where to begin exactly. But I had some ideas. Lots and lots of ideas. I'm an idea girl as you'll soon learn. I set out my tools of the trade, all neat and tidy on my kitchen table ready to begin. Luckily, my husband who sits back and watches stepped in with some ideas on ways I could practice the stamping without using the more expensive washers and bars I'd so eagerly purchased. Smart man. What I didn't take into considerati...
