Shoulders and Step
Oh busy days. Yep, on repeat again. But I had a great workout at lunch to help break up the day. I did shoulders using the pyramid method of 12, 10, 8, 10, 12 reps increasing then decreasing the weights:
Overhead press
Rear delt flye into Front raise into Side lateral raise*
*This was like a tri set where I did each exercise for 12 reps before moving to the next set of reps doing all 3 exercises again for 10 reps rather than the pyramid up and down for flye, then up and down for raise, etc.
I had a really strong weight workout and was able to keep some of the heavier weights even with the addition of the reps. Love it when I have those "strong" days.
After work I did cardio. I had thought about trying for another run, but my hamstrings are still sore from Sunday's workout then running yesterday. Of course, I didn't go for an easy workout - that's so not like me ;-) I opted for about 35 minutes of Cathe's Imax 3. That workout is no joke is all I can say. You do a short step combo followed by a "blast" that's a lot of plyo work.
Semi-Homemade My Way
Dinner tonight is sort of a semi-homemade deal in that I based the side around Quorn Gruyere Chik'n Cutlet rather than dolling up my own tofu, tempeh, bean patties, etc (that's the semi-homemade part obviously).
I roasted up yellow squash, zucchini, onions, and chickpeas tossed with garlic, salt, black pepper, and parsley. I also roasted up russet and sweet potatoes tossed with rosemary, salt, and black pepper. To top the Quorn cutlets, I sauteed mushrooms, onions, and garlic in red wine with a little bit of balsamic vinegar, drizzle of agave nectar, pinch of salt, black pepper, and parsley.
I must say, this turned out to be a semi-fancy, semi-homemade meal. The next time I do a mushroom sauce like this, I would like to use a variety of wild mushrooms.
Schedule Awry - Busy Bee
The next few days my posts will likely be very short. We are hosting a conference at our office and are kicking it off with a reception tomorrow evening. We have speakers all day Thursday then a dinner at the Clinton Presidential Center Thursday night. Friday the conference continues half a day. Talk about being thrown off my typical "Be in PJs by 5pm schedule."
I'm going to do my very best to roll with it and try to enjoy the events rather than being stressed out about being off schedule. I guess my biggest concern is trying to figure out when I can get my workouts in because I may not have much time after work between the evening events. Now, I could get up early and get them done...maybe...but that's iffy ;-)
