10...Long...Miles
This morning I did not get up early to partake in the Black Friday chaos. In the past, I might get up and head to the mall by 8 am. I have found that most people are still at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, those places. I have also found that I am only buying needlessly for myself when I do this. So, this morning, no mall.
I got up and had my typical oatmeal breakfast, changed over some laundry, and was fairly unproductive. It was freezing out, literally, but sunny at least. Jason and I were planning on a long run today, but wanted to wait until it warmed up a little bit. By 10:30, we realized the wait was futile, it was never going to really warm up. We headed to the river trails with the temps hovering below 40 and the wind steadily picking up (go figure right).
The first 5 miles were windy, but not terrible. The wind, my friends, was mostly at our backs. At the turn around, we were smacked in the face with cold, steady winds. I suddenly regretted having taken off my gloves but was thankful I had not yet peeled off my outer jacket. I had a sudden pain in my right knee about this time. It was bad enough that I told Jason I had to walk for a second. I should have walked longer, but probably only walked maybe 20 seconds. It was fast enough that Jason said, "Oh, you really meant a second."
We kept going, the wind kept going, and my knee started to steadily hurt worse. We managed 10 miles, but just barely. I should probably have stopped around mile 6 to be quite honest. As I type this, I am sitting on ice and have ice on my knee. I can promise I won't be running tomorrow and maybe not even Sunday. So, 10 cold, windy, painful miles down and that's that.
Fun Facts Friday - Purses and Drawers
Now, onto something more enjoyable...Fun Facts Friday. Is it really Friday? It seems like Sunday to me actually. The other day I opened my desk drawer and it struck me how much food I had in there. So I thought it might be fun to admit what all we have in desk drawers and purses.
