Fun Facts Friday - Resolutions vs Goals

Working Out on Friday
So today is supposed to be my rest day, but since I took the day off Wednesday, I packed my gym bag and took it with me to work. This meant I had no excuse to skip the workout. I worked through lunch so I could leave at 3 pm. This also helped prevent any excuses.

I hit the gym for a 10-minute warm up on the elliptical then back from STS Week 2 of Meso 3. This week the weights increase and the reps drop to 4x7.

Underhand rows
One-arm rows
Pullovers (in lieu of deadlifts)
One-arm horizontal rows

I added on low back extensions on the stability ball then finished off with 20 minutes on the elliptical.

Fun Facts Friday - Resolutions vs Goals
Tonight will be our typical Pizza and Pool Friday. It just makes meal planning so much easier on Friday evenings after a long work week. Now I know you all are asking, "So how does this fit in with Fun Facts Friday???" And it doesn't. Just chatting is all.

But since you all brought up Fun Facts Friday, I thought it would be fun to list out goals. I made a resolution this year (to live fuller) that I see as a way of living that will encompass goals, but is not a specific goal in and of itself. Diana @ The Chic Life did a post on resolutions vs goals. Are they the same? What's the difference? I see them as separate and that the resolution leads me to specific goals. But, I never really shared any specific goals of mine, so I thought I'd do that today (of course this is a short list).

  1. Start selling my dog treats (hello Etsy shop)
  2. Run a half marathon (March 6 baby)
  3. Clean out kitchen cabinets (thanks Candice for the reminder)
  4. Avoid the mall/shopping
  5. De-clutter(cabinets, closets, desk, life)
  6. Paint mini-home gym
  7. Save more money (see #4)
  8. Take clothes to resale shop
  9. Extra income for traveling (see #1, 4, and 8)
  10. Travel more - some of this is for work, the rest for fun (Philly, Cathe Road Trip, Seattle/Vancouver, Massachusetts, San Fran, Chicago)
  11. Learn to use my new smart phone (work in progress)
  12. Learn to take better photos
  13. Get back into scrapbooking
  14. RELAX
So, what are some of your goals? Do you see resolutions as different than goals?

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
