Boxing & Car Shopping

Boxing Over Running
I had thought that I might run today depending on the weather. I just wanted to head out for an easier 4-miler. My training plan had originally called for 5-6 yesterday and 9-10 today.

Unfortunately, it was really windy and looked like rain all day. I took that as a sign that I needed to do something other than get in a run. So, I went with Cathe's MMA Boxing then abs from Power Hour. It was a fun workout and time flew by this morning.

Errands, Chores, More Car Shopping
After the workout, I started working on some house chores before we decided to head out to run some errands. We recently rearranged the living room, and I wanted a new lamp for a side table. We hit up Kirkland's and scored a great deal on the perfect lamp - $16.97! Then we hit up Target and a few car lots before decided we really had to eat before we could even think about the grocery store.

While eating, however, we talked ourselves into going back to one of the lots to test drive a car there. Of course that meant we were there far longer than we had hoped or planned on. I've had several people ask me about what I've been looking at. I didn't really want to say, some of the cars sound pretentious to me, even if they are used. I don't ever want to come across that way. I mean, my car was 10 years old and Jason's is 11. We haven't bought a new car in a LONG time. We're definitely not luxury car people, but used? Hey those kind of are affordable.

So...I kind of like the Hyundai Genesis (though I can't drive the standard because the seat doesn't scoot up enough to touch the clutch), Infinity G37 Coupe, and I test drove a BMW 328i Convertible today ('07). While I loved the BMW because it hit all of my criteria (sporty, standard, convertible), I am still oddly leaning towards the G37. Major "zoom" factor with that one ;-)

I still had some chores I wanted to finish up and some doggy treats to bake up for an order. Jason was kind enough to drop me off at the house and take care of the groceries. I think I can handle doing some laundry, baking treats, and blogging rather than the grocery store ;-)

Anyway, since lunch was sort of late (and I ate too much), I'm not sure what we'll end up having for dinner tonight. It's oddly warm here because we have a front pushing though (which is going to bring some storms tonight), so soup really doesn't sound appealing at all. Maybe some sort of salad perhaps. If it ends up being anything exciting, I'll be sure to post tomorrow ;-)

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
