Weights Over a Run on Sunday

Working Out
So today I ended up ditching my half marathon training plan again. It called for 4 miles. It was a gorgeous, warm day, but really windy (gusting 18 mph). I just couldn't seem to get excited about running. So, I ended up doing chest, legs, boxing, and abs instead.

Pushups - 24
Flat bench chest flyes into press - 3x8
Pushups with toes on step - 16
Squats into Plie Squats with low-end pulse - 3x8
Incline bench flyes into press - 3x8
Staggered bench press - 12
Rear leg elevated lunges into deadlifts - 3x8
Firewalkers - 6
Calf raises - 2x16

I did the upper body only from combos 1 and 2 of Cathe's MMA Boxing then abs from High Reps. I did stretch for a bit after the workout before getting cleaned up.

Chores & Kitchen Boycott
Jason was nice enough to go to the grocery store while I was working out, then he headed out for a bike ride. In the meantime, I did laundry (washed, not folded mind you), made some hummus, and spent about 3 hours in our study/office shredding, filing, and tossing things.

It ended up being in the upper 60's, so when Jason got back he suggested we might go find a patio to sit out on for a drink. We did that and realized that even though it was nice and warm, the wind made it less warm. Also, there was a crying baby that couldn't be consoled. I know those things happen, but when you are childless, it's really hard to ignore. I really kind of felt sorry for the mom to be honest.

I had thought I was going to make a nice dinner tonight, but I think I'm going to boycott cooking. I feel like I've spent way too much time in the kitchen either cooking and/or cleaning and I'm just done. So not clue what's for dinner. Cereal? Right now Jason has his head in cabinets and is just randomly naming off things. So with that, I'm signing off....

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th...

Let's Have Coffee

If you're a regular blog reader, I'm sure you've seen similar posts, scenarios if you will, about what we might chat about or what I might say if we sat down and had coffee together. I think these can be fun. Maybe fun isn't the right word choice exactly. But maybe it is? They're transparent, showing who the blogger really is ... if they're being honest of course. It's not often you truly get to sit down with the person behind the blog. Banana Nut Biscotti with Banana Glaze If we were to have coffee together ... I would first let you know that I'm not a super fan of coffee. I drink mine with hot cocoa and it's mostly out of habit rather than the need for caffeine. I could forgo it on the weekends entirely. Since we're talking coffee, I would also let you know that I've never ordered coffee from Starbucks and only once from a true coffee shop. I've only been into 2 Starbucks shops - the original in Seattle and one in town wher...
