Fun Facts Friday - Happy Hour Memories

Gym Day
What happens when you complain about it being chilly out or windy out? You get windy, hot, humidity! It's an early reminder of what summer has to offer us. I guess I can't complain too much though, I will take that over ice, sleet, snow. Plus, I wasn't running outside today ;-)

I took my workout to the gym I started with a 10-minute warm up on the elliptical then hit the weights for upper body. I did supersets of just one exercise per muscle group done 3x8. I figured going low and heavy with two exercises then slightly higher reps, but still heavy with just one set of exercises a few days later is good. I think two exercises per muscle group at that rep range might be overkill. Again, I'm no professional.

Anyway....

SS#1
Incline chest flye
Incline chest press

SS#2
Incline bicep curls
Standing lateral raises

SS#3
Lying dumbbell triceps extensions
Pullovers

I did some ab work then another 10 on the elliptical and call it a day.

Fun Facts Friday - Happy Hour Memories
Today's Fun Facts Friday is inspired by a recent post from Meri @ Meri-Goes-Round. Yesterday was like national beer day I do believe, but that's not really the point, she did a post of beers and the memories attached to them.

I had to laugh to myself recalling memories that I actually have associated with certain beers or other beverages that I had never thought of. I thought it'd be fun to rehash that a bit. I mean, it's Friday so this is highly appropriate right?

Bud Light - I was a Bud Light girl all the way in college (and I won't lie...high school).

Blue Moon - My first foray into "real" beer. Tried it in Chicago for the first time based on friend's recommendation. Never looked at a Bud Light the same way again.

Boulevard's Sunshine Wheat - Reminds me of summer days, sitting on the patio. I used to say I had my Sun and my Moon (referring to Sunshine and Blue Moon).

Strawberry Daiquiris (AKA Frus...like froos, derived from fruity drinks or fru fru drinks) - Again, summer days lounging on the patio soaking up some Vitamin D.

Sangria - This would be an a-typical version of it mind you. Reminds me of time on the lake and a trip to Florida where the fruit ended up being made into special smoothies.

Specials - This is what Jason and I call any drink on the last cruise we were on. They were always rum based and hues of orange/pink.

Mimosas - Reminds me of late brunches and also a good friend who loves her mimosas (and yes, it's a friend not just talking about myself LOL).

Wine - I must say that I love my wine. But there was a time when I hated wine. Jason worked in the restaurant business and we attended high-end wine tastings and I turned my nose up at all of it. Instead, I parked my rear at the champagne table where I drank alone ;-)

7 & 7 - Other than the initial gut reaction to vomit, it reminds me of some late high school nights. Did you know that the lid from a Seagram's 7 bottle fits a 2-litter 7-up bottle? Or maybe it was the other way around ;-)

So now it's your turn (as if you don't know how this works by now). What are some of your favorite drinks or drinks and memories?

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
