TGIF After Stormy Night
I cannot even begin to express how thankful I am that this is a rest day. We had some deadly storms roll through the state last night. Sadly, seven people died. Heath absolutely turns himself inside out during storms. He usually starts pacing or if it's in the middle of the night and he's in his kennel banging the kennel door. So, we were abruptly woken up at 1:30 am. No storms just yet, but we knew they were coming.
Jason ended up taking Heath downstairs. The benadryl wasn't working. Jason read that sometimes if a dog can scootch up to a toilet or get into a cast iron tub, that can help. So, Jason got on the couch and left he bathroom door open for the terrified Heath Man.
Around 2 am the tornado sirens started going off. I got up to go check the radar. Right about that time the hail started. In the two months I've had my car, we have now had two hail storms.
Anyway, I don't know how or why, but where downtown is situated between an interstate and the Arkansas River, storms typically skirt (literally just edging) around us. So just south and just north got hit hard, but our area looked as if it had just been a regular stormy evening, not a tornadic evening.
Needless to say, this morning was rough getting up and going. I felt like I was getting ready under water. Everything was slo-mo and fumbly bumbly. TGIF right?!
PJs n' Pizza
And I am even more thankful because this evening my sis is going to come up and staying the night. So excited to have her come over along with some other girlfriends for an official PJs n' Pizza Girls' Night In!
Who doesn't enjoy pizza with friends, and in comfy PJs to boot? I mean, it's fun to dress up and head out for happy hour with the girls, but sometimes lounging in something comfy at someone's house is hard to beat. I'm making a few different types of pizzas, including a gluten-free version for my sister. I'll be sure to take some pictures of course, but I'm definitely going to enjoy myself and disconnect for the evening.
Fun Facts Fridays - Sleepovers
While tonight isn't exactly a sleepover (other than my sister staying), it does remind me of many many sleepovers I had as a kid. We had a two-story house, the downstairs being a finished basement with a door at the top of the stairs my mom could easily close.
Mom was always up for letting me have themed parties and sleepovers and would come up with games for us to play and such (when we were younger of course). I thought I would share some of the themes or memories of the sleepovers.
Hawaiian Luau - we had a swimming pool so this worked perfectly. Everyone wore their suits with grass skirts and leis.
Punk Party - this was probably around 1985. Mom even bought this colored "stuff" and glitter we could use in our hair to spike it up, color it up, and rock out.
50's Party - pretty self-explanatory, poodle skirts and ponytails!
Regular Sleepover - just your run-of-the-mill girls with sleeping bags, staying up late, trying to do seances, and gossiping.
I'd love to hear some of your favorite themed parties or sleepover memories!
