Birthday Party, Wedding, Running

Birthday Party
I really appreciate the comments from yesterday's post. I know it was a long one, so thank you for sticking with it. And thank you for sharing your reasons for moving as well.

Thankfully, the rain moved out so both events we had to attend yesterday were rain-free. The first event of the day was my nephew's 5th birthday party. They had those bouncy things for the kids. The favorite was the bouncy slide though. I can't believe the air these kids were catching!

They were having so much fun that we had to take the gifts outside to the birthday boy to even get him sidetracked long enough to open them.

Bouncy contraptions also almost trump birthday cake and ice cream too! It took a lot of coercion to get everyone inside for the blowing out of candles. Of course, once they got their cake, they were happy campers.

It really turned out to be a great birthday part (hectic as hell as you can imagine). But all the kids seemed to be having a great time. Even my sis didn't seem terribly stressed out ;-)
Wedding
After the party, we had to hightail it back home to get ready for the next event, our friends' wedding. While it was mostly cloudy, this worked out for the best. It meant it wasn't sweltering out for the ceremony.

Gwynne looked absolutely gorgeous. It was a small, intimate affair of close friends and family. Perfect.Everyone was able to really mingle and chat. The bride and groom weren't trapped in long welcome lines. They were able to fully enjoy the reception as well.

Stormy Sunday
Today ended up being super stormy. I hadn't expected that at all. I was fully planning on a 6 mile run. But lightening and flooding rains were going to nix that little plan. I ended up taking my run to the gym. Oddly enough, it ended up being a pretty good 5-mile run.

I started with 2 miles, then 6 x 1:00 athletic intervals (run fast 1 min, jog 1 min). I decided I'd round out the run to 4 miles, but felt good so I pushed on to 5 total.

When I got home, I spent about 30 minutes stretching and rolling out on my TriggerPoint Therapy Kit. My IT band has been starting to ache lately. Makes me super nervous, so lots of extra stretching and rolling happening.

We ended up having a really late lunch. The sun finally came out, so we hung out on our patio just relaxing, chatting, and listening to music for a bit. It's been a super chill day over all. I did get some laundry done, but other than that...lazy....and totally ok with that.

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
