Hectic Hump Day & BBQ Tempeh & Portobello Sandwiches

Hectic Hump Day
Holy hump day. This day turned out to be a crazy busy day for me at work and then lots of Plan B's taking place. I had anticipated hitting spin after work with my friend (it was on my to-enjoy list). I had also anticipated getting my hair done (also on to-enjoy list).

What really happened was I had to reschedule my appointment and ended up hitting spin at lunch. Of course, the noon spin really helped me sort of regroup after a hectic, busy work morning. I am sure my boss was worried I might just go AWOL.

So, it really did kind of work out for the best that I was able to get my sweat on earlier rather than later. The only downfall is that I had planned on having time before spin class to get in back today. That'll just have to be moved to tomorrow or Friday though. I can be flexible...sometimes.

Hump Day Happy Hour (and Hubby cooking)
I typically don't go out on a school night ever. But today was the exception. I worked until 5 then ended up meeting my friend after work for a drink. She really wanted someone to talk to, and I needed to unwind in a big way. We met up at an Irish pub that we really enjoy. There was another group coming along at 6, but we met up a little after 5 and I just stayed for one drink.

Jason was nice enough to get dinner started for us. I had suggested maybe a tempeh BBQ with sweet potato fries. He put together sauteed onions, bell peppers, portobellos and tempeh with BBQ sauce for a BBQ Tempeh and Portobello Sandwich. Turned out so yummy. It was nice to come home after a hard day and have dinner going already too.

Oh, even better, we ate at the kitchen table again.

Daily To-Enjoy List
Well, last night Jason and I did eat at the kitchen table so I knocked that one off the list finally. But, we never got around to the movie. That's ok though. I'll just keep that one there for future to-enjoy moments. Today's additions were a little scattered, but they mostly got checked off.

Just like a to-do list, I can't expect every to-enjoy item to happen right? But, I am determined to make sure that I at least enjoy one of the things from my list. I'll also be happy to enjoy any unplanned to-enjoy moments as well ;-)
  • Movie with hubby (this will just be on-going)
  • Getting hair done (rescheduled)
  • Spin with friend (hit spin at different time, sans friend)
  • Happy hour with my friend (unplanned treat)

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
