Crazy Busy But Enjoying

I must say that you probably be terribly disappointed in today's post. I've been incredibly busy and am in between "dates" for about 15 minutes.

I literally hit the ground running this morning and haven't stopped. I woke up insanely early (thank you Maddie). But I needed to get up and out early if I was going to run. I hit the river trail at 6:30 am. There was a nice breeze, but the humidity was insane. At 3 miles in, I realized I was running with an "I'll try" attitude not an "I will" attitude.

I had wanted to hit 8 miles, but early on I was already psyching myself out. I refocused and set my goal and went for it. Run, walk, crawl, I was going to hit 8 miles. And...I did. Overall, it was a really good run. I only had minor hip issues. Post-run, I still felt really good, no tightness or anything. Which was good considering the rest of the day.

With only about 20 minutes, I had to stretch, roll, shower, and hit the road again as we were due to meet my family at the lake (an hour away) by 9:30. I promise to post fun lake pictures tomorrow - mostly of niece and nephew "monster" tubing with their Uncle Jason.

Unfortunately, we couldn't stay as long as we would have liked. I had a lunch date with a dear friend that I haven't seen in years - far far too long. I was not going to pass up the opportunity to catch up with her. We met at 2:30 at a really nice little place called Capis for snacks basically.

We spent about 3 hours catching up and walking around the shopping center the restaurant was in. Three hours was definitely not enough time I must say. Of course, it never is when you're trying to cram about 7 years into an afternoon visit. :-(

I am now off to help a friend celebrate her 35th birthday. Again - I promise for a better post, with pictures tomorrow.

I promise to also reply to your fun comments from yesterday's post. I've been reading them, just not been at a computer to respond. Loving them. Definitely worth revisiting for laughs! I hope you all are having a great Saturday!

Daily To-Enjoy List
  • Lake time with family
  • Morning run
  • Time with friend
  • Birthday party for friend

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
