Fun Facts Friday - Me in a Class

I guess all the walking we did last night really wore me out as I slept for 7 straight hours last night - something I never ever do. But, I still felt really tired and groggy all morning. Not really sure why other than maybe just being off routine.

We decided to schedule our lake run for after class rather than before. I knew I'd want to be outside and moving, and Jason would be ready to get out of the hotel too. Plus, since the temps aren't hot, we have that luxury for a change.

Today's lunch was so much better than yesterday's blah of a salad. I got the Garden Lentil Salad from Argo Tea (which is in the same building as our hotel). Um, wow. So full of flavor I can't even begin to describe it. I imagine that'll be lunch again for me next week.

Rather than waiting until late tonight to talk about the run or where we might end up eating, I'll do a recap of that tomorrow and move on to Fun Facts Friday. Sitting in class reminds me of college days. How on earth did I spend so much time sitting listening to lectures? Here are just some random facts about me in a class (particularly this class of course):
  • I normally like to site nearest to the door (this time we're front row but opposite side of the door)
  • Windows are bad for me - I've been watching the people in their offices next door
  • I am always early to class
  • Chairs that spin are bad for me - I find myself swinging side to side like a kid
  • It looks like I am taking lots of detailed notes - I take notes to keep myself awake and it helps me retain the info more than just listening
  • I really hate group exercises
  • I always worry that I'm going to trip and fall if I have to get up mid-class for a bathroom break
  • I make lots of lists of things I want to do, see, places to look up, etc.
So how are you in a class? Are you the good student or the ADHD kid? I'm sort of a combo of both I suppose.

Daily To-Enjoy List
  • Run by the lake
  • More Chicago sight-seeing
  • Mild temps

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
