Fun Facts Friday - My Food and Fitness Wish List

Rest Day
Today is a rest day for me. I kind of wish I had planned it out better so that I could run today. The temperatures are supposed to be about 50 with sunshine. Sounds like outdoor running weather to me. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, but only 45, which probably means more like 40. It's ok, you guys in the north can totally chuckle at me for being such a weenie about the weather (Jess did you catch the word choice).

Since I didn't have any workout plans, I had extra time on my hands. During lunch we hit up Whole Foods finally. Been avoiding that one for a while because of major road construction in that direction. After work, the goal was to get a couple of Christmas gifts purchased, finally. I've been really putting this off because of driving in insane traffic.

So far, I've only ordered gifts for my niece and nephew from Amazon. All shopping should be so easy I believe.
Easy Chef Baking Set - Source

My nephew has found this insane passion for cooking and helping his mom out in the kitchen. My niece would be crazy jealous if he got this apron set and she didn't. So they both got one (his is red and hers is pink). Love love easy shopping.

Some people like the shopping frenzy of the season. Are you a hands on shopper or is online the way to go?

Fun Facts Friday - Food & Fitness Wish List
Speaking of shopping, my family always asks what I might want for Christmas. I don't know why, but I always blank out until after the fact. Like after I've given some crazy list of things I just make up off the top of my head. For Fun Facts Friday, I thought it would be fun to share some of my top "wants" for food and fitness gifts.

Food
  • Mixing bowls - only have 2 plastic ones that are pretty old.
  • Mini-food processor - sometimes I used the food processor for 2 or more pieces to a dinner.
  • Cookbooks - not that I usually follow recipes, but I love getting new ideas.
  • Hand mixer - mine finally died.
  • Gift card - to an online vegan store like Pangea or maybe Netrition that carries a variety of items.

Fitness
  • GPS gadget - like a Garmin perhaps.
  • More arm sleeves - seriously in love with my Saucony Arm Warmers/Sleeves.
  • Long-sleeved running top with thumb holes - I am obsessed with wanting one.
  • More long running pants - because I only have 2 pairs.
  • More running hats - because I always wear a hat to workout in.
  • Better sunglasses for running - mine were only about $19 and kind of hurt my nose.
  • Subscription - Oxygen or Muscle & Fitness Hers mags.
What food and/or fitness item is on your holiday wish list?

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
