Giveaway Winner & Fun Facts Friday - More Fashion

Food Should Tast Good - Winner
This morning started off a little hectic. It started storming probably around 5:45. Luckily it was short-lived, but Heath was still a little out of sorts when I went down to feed him. After he ate, he went outside and proceeded to hide under lawn furniture and wouldn't budge. It's always fun to have to uncover wet lawn furniture in the dark at 6:45 am to try to pull your scared pup out and get him inside.

But, it's Friday!  And....
As promised, the winner of my Food Should Tast Good Giveaway is:
Jen from Running with the Girls

Rest Day = Lunch Date
Today was a rest day for me - much needed physically and mentally. I used to be one of those people who dreaded rest days. Not so much anymore. I look forward to the recovery. Since I wasn't working out today, Jason talked me into going out to lunch, something we never do during the week.

There is a local restaurant just down the street from us called The Root Cafe. Jason has been a few times, but I've not been. They have several vegetarian and vegan options like Spicy Bahn Mi (tofu) and Shiitake Mushroom Burger.

My only complaint is that I wish the tofu wasn't fried and that the Shiitake Burger was actually a veggie patty. It was really just a grilled mushroom - tasty, but not quite what I was expecting. The Bahn Mi was definitely spicy, which we both love of course. They also have a few salad options.

What I do love, and really appreciate is that they try to make sure everything is as local as possible. So you know it's fresh and you can taste the difference. That definitely makes me want to go back. I do think it's important not only to support truly local business (not a chain run by a local) and especially those that are supporting the local farmers, artisans, bakers, etc.

Next time I'll take pictures. The place is teeny tiny, but it does have ample outdoor seating. Everything is very homey, as in thrift store, recycled, eclectic. Real napkins (think thrift store finds, nothing matching), glass canning jars for drinks, not a single matching plate to be found, and kitchen tables...real tables not restaurant style tables. So it's definitely quirky, but that makes it really relaxing too.

Fun Facts Friday - Friday Fashion
This seems like an unusually long post for a Friday. Honestly, I was fresh out of any random, fun, odd, quirky facts to list. I tried getting inspiration from other bloggers, from fun quotes, anything. But I am tapped out on the fun facts today. Except for the fact that I kept getting compliments on my shoes.

Not only were women complimenting, but men as well. And this happens pretty much anytime I wear these particular shoes. When I bought them, I had no idea the reaction they'd receive. They were simple I thought. Just a pair of black cage-style booties. No big deal right?

So, I guess I can share my Friday outfit for Fun Facts Friday. My recent posts have included lots of The Limited pieces. But today I actually only had on one piece from The Limited (a necklace). The tank is so incredibly comfy that I wish I would have bought more. Same for the cardigan. Both were from last year though. While I do like the outfit, I kind of think it's more about the shoes than the clothes.
Please excuse the squinty eyes, forgot sunglasses & sun came out
Striped tank and jersey cardigan - Express
Jeans - Always Skinny, The Gap
Shoes - Madden Girl, DSW

So do you have any outfits where it's really about the shoes or maybe accessories?

Daily To-Enjoy List:

  • Sunshine

  • Friday!

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . Piriformis Update & Grilled Veggie Salad

New Piriformis Exercises Today wasn't too terrible for a Monday. Of course, I did leave a little early. That always helps huh ;-) I had another round of physical therapy today. My PT has been really researching piriformis syndrome and found an interesting article that discusses the use of McKenzie Exercises - typically used for back pain. I have started adding in low back extensions (one of the exercises) but now have a whole new list of exercises to add into my workout rotations. But, if it helps, I'll do it. I also asked her about dry needling (thanks Sarena ), which is sort of similar to acupuncture, but is more about trigger point and intramuscular stimulation. And I'm glad I asked because the timing is uncanny. One of the doctor's in the clinic happens to be going to get certified this weekend. They both believe that I am a prime candidate for the procedure. So we'll see how that goes. Kind of scared because I hate hate hate needles. Have any of you tr
