Resting & Relaxing & Doggy Sitting

So today I opted for a rest day. While I would have loved to have gotten in a run this morning, I was just exhausted. I've run 3 days in a row and done 3 days of weights. In other words, 3 days of 2-a-days.

I could have run, but I'm fairly certain it would have been a pretty crappy one. My legs were heavy, my upper body sore, and my mind was ready for a vacation.

During lunch Jason and I had to run over and pick up our friends' dog. We're doggy sitting for a few days - Bella the Beagle. She's really a good dog, so it's not a hassle at all. In fact, our dogs will be pretty worn out after she goes home, so it's kind of a win-win ;-)

I had a hair appointment this afternoon and had to leave work a little early. But that also gave me plenty of time to get to the grocery store and still avoid the after work rush crowd. I will say that our Kroger is so sad compared to the Publix in Florida.

Clearly, no one wants to be working there, they keep changing the products they carry and don't carry, and the baggers...well...the lady today was probably later 60's, incredibly slow, but very happy to tell me she put ALL the cans into one of my recyclable bags. Oh, ok. Thank you. That'll make it super easy for me to haul into the house (rolling eyes).

Anyway, Jason and I are planning on running in the morning so he decided to hit up the afternoon master's swim class this evening. That means I have a free evening to myself. I should be cleaning, but instead I'm going to paint my nails and catch up on Real Housewives of Orange County.

Dinner will be super super simple: loaded sweet potato. The only thing easier would probably be cereal ;-)

Daily To-Enjoy List:
Rest day
Sunshine
Relaxing afternoon

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th...

Let's Have Coffee

If you're a regular blog reader, I'm sure you've seen similar posts, scenarios if you will, about what we might chat about or what I might say if we sat down and had coffee together. I think these can be fun. Maybe fun isn't the right word choice exactly. But maybe it is? They're transparent, showing who the blogger really is ... if they're being honest of course. It's not often you truly get to sit down with the person behind the blog. Banana Nut Biscotti with Banana Glaze If we were to have coffee together ... I would first let you know that I'm not a super fan of coffee. I drink mine with hot cocoa and it's mostly out of habit rather than the need for caffeine. I could forgo it on the weekends entirely. Since we're talking coffee, I would also let you know that I've never ordered coffee from Starbucks and only once from a true coffee shop. I've only been into 2 Starbucks shops - the original in Seattle and one in town wher...
