Things I'm Loving or Not Loving

I had a completely different post planned for today - talking about nutrition and what people often think of as "healthy" foods - but decided to back off that one until I can sort through my thoughts better. Basically it boils down to so much misleading information, misunderstanding of information, media hype and general acceptance (like why do we accept that companies put corn syrup in BBQ sauces?).

Of course, I'm not a nutritionist, definitely not an expert, so I wasn't sure if I was just setting myself up for backlash. So...I decided to go with at Thursday Things type of post - some Things I'm Loving and Not Loving.

Things I'm Loving
  • My bike Trainer
  • Mizuno Wave Rider 16's
  • Nuttzo
  • Love Grown Oatmeal (and granola of course)

  • Warming temps
  • Daylight past 6pm
  • Flowers in bloom

Things I'm Not Loving
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Doctor's visits
  • Blood draws
  • Trying to memorize all the muscles, insertion & origin points for the ISSA Personal Trainer Cert.
  • Dark mornings so no more gorgeous sunrises

What are some of the things your loving or not loving lately?

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th...

KIND Bar Review + Apple Raisin Wheat Berry Salad

Weights & Step As much as I wanted to run today, I knew there was no getting up early enough to do so. Monday's are hard enough without getting up at 5 am to run. Yawn ... So, today I did my weights at lunch then cardio after work. Weights were pull muscles (biceps and back). I did 3 sets of 8 reps of the following: Biceps : Alternating curls Cross-body curls Zottoman curls Back: Single-arm horizontal row Underhand DB rows Double arm rows It was a pretty good workout. I felt pretty strong today for some reason. Love it when that happens. My legs were pretty sore from yesterday's workout, so I opted for a lower intensity cardio: Cathe's Low Impact Circuit - Cardio Only Premix plus abs. It was a great workout and helped to loosen up my legs. KIND Review I have been very remiss with my review of the KIND bars that I won from Jill @ My So Called Health LIfe . I won the Nut Delight. I don't know why, but I expected it to be a tad softer...
