Fun For Friday - Virtual Races, Running, Finding Money

Happy Friday! While I'm super excited that it's Friday, it doesn't really feel that way for me. My weekend will be spent indoors attending the Road Runners of America (RRCA) Running Coach Classes both Saturday and Sunday. I'm trying not to stress out about not being able to get in a run or my usual bike ride over the weekend. Breathe....

But, it IS Friday so let's get on with Fun For Friday shall we? My inspiration was waning a bit, so I am cheating a little and using the 5 for Friday theme. Hope you don't mind ;-)

1. While I really didn't want to get up early this morning, I peeled myself out of bed wishing it could be a rest day. But knowing that once I got moving it'd be worth it. And as I was coming up on 6 miles, this was my reward.

2. Speaking of rewards, yesterday I found 9 bucks during my run. I guess that's a dollar for every mile I did. Too bad I can't get a dollar for every mile all the time.

3. I signed up for another Virtual Race Series that the fabulous Laura at Mommy Run Fast is putting together. I did the one for Spring, and am looking forward to the Fall one now. I encourage you to check it out. It's a fun way to set some goals. This series is either 5 or 10 miles by the 5th from September through December.

4. I look forward to my daily Clymb emails telling me about all the sales happening. Though, my wallet (and husband) would probably be happier if I didn't receive those emails. I can ignore Haute Look, One Kings Lane, etc. But not the Clymb. Good think I found that 9 bucks huh?

5. While I am not enjoying running in the crazy heat and humidity that's come back, I am loving that the pool has warmed up again (after a week of 60 degree lows, it cools off fast) so I could enjoy a quick cool-down dip after a sweaty run.

What are your 5 things to share this fine Friday?

Mid-Week Mix-Up - Disconnecting to Reconnect

Another Double Workout This morning I got up when Jason got up to go to swim. The plan was to do Cathe's MMA Kickboxing DVD then do back and triceps at lunch or after work. I really needed a day off from running - I had run 5 days straight. And wouldn't you know it that my cross-training day also happens to be the first morning in months that it was in the low 60's. Really? Talk about bad timing. I almost feel like I let the universe down by not taking advantage of the crazy cool temps. And of course they go right back up the rest of the week. Humph.... But, I listened to my body, my feet, my piriformis...all telling me to not run. So, I didn't. I did my kickboxing workout (sulking just a bit I won't lie). But it was a good way to "kick" off the morning. During lunch, I ran home to get in my back and triceps weights done. I went with my same back and triceps workout as last week. No gym means no assisted pullups or barbell rows. So, I do worry a bit

Workout Wednesday - Body Blaster Tabata

Happy Hump Day! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments on yesterday's post: Be Kinder to Your Body. Calories are Not the Enemy . It sounds like it resonated with many of you. Today I wanted to share a new workout with you. I've been working on interval workouts for some of my clients. I try to give them the most bang for their buck (time). I know that in an ideal world, we would all have time to do longer workouts. There would never be scheduling conflicts, sick husbands or kids, or sick us. In reality, workouts need to be effective and efficient. And they don't have to be lengthy to be effective and efficient either. There's no need to spend hours in a gym to get in a good workout. Interval workouts like HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) or tabata, or even interval running are great ways to get in a fantastic workout in a short amount of time and have many benefits. You can read more about Tabata workouts  here . The benefits of this type of work
