Lifting, Living, Decorating - Move.Eat.Live.

Phew, finally made it to Friday! That means Fun for Friday around here. I've been enjoying recapping my Move.Eat.Live. moments from the week, so I thought I'd share again. And, as always, I would love to hear your Move.Eat.Live. moments as well.

Move

I've gotten in some good runs this week, including a 10-miler yesterday morning. It's supposed to be uncomfortably hot this weekend. Since I was going to be up at the crack of dawn running yesterday anyway, I thought it'd be smart to get the run done. I had wanted another 12-miler, but will gladly take the 10, especially because it was shared in good company with Amy.

I got in some good weight workouts this week as well. I love working so close to my home. This lets me get in weights easily during my lunch break. Plus, slinging some weights around can help if you're feeling stressed.

Eat

Last night I made a version of my garlicky tomato sauce (sorry, forgot to take pictures but I can assure you it was yummy). It's such a simple sauce using fresh cherry or grape tomatoes, tons of garlic, white wine and fresh basil.

But last night I wanted to thicken the sauce a bit so I added in some tomato paste as well as nutritional yeast flakes, spinach, artichokes and some tofu that I had marinated in a homemade basil vinaigrette.

Jason immediately asked what I had done different. Sometimes it turns out in your favor to revisit a tried-and-true recipe and jazz it up a bit.

Live

This week was pretty busy for both Jason and I. I didn't really get a chance to just sit outside and read, though, it was too hot for that quite honestly. But I did manage to finish some home decorating projects (which you've probably already seen me sharing and posting about).

I'm hoping to enjoy some down time this weekend. We may go to a baseball game. This is the last weekend for the Arkansas Travelers to be playing here, and wouldn't you know that it's supposed to be 100 degrees. Guess those temps will be a fantastic excuse to enjoy some pool time though right? Anyone want to join me?

What's your Move.Eat.Live for the week - or for the weekend?

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th...

Weights, Run, & Road Trip Details

Two on Tuesday This morning my eyes opened wide at 4:55 am. I tried to go back to sleep, but quickly realized I was only fooling myself. So I got up and got my workouts done. Today was leg day with quad focus. Wide-stance squats - 3x8 Rear leg elevated lunges - 3x10 Firewalkers - 8 total Narrow-stance squats - 3x10 Static lunges - 3x10 Squats with low-end pulse - 3x8 Wall squats with ball - 6 reps of squat with 10 sec hold Outer thigh raises with ankle weights on ball - 2x24 We had storms roll through last night, so the temperatures dropped finally. It was 74 this morning, so I decided to take advantage of that and get in a short 20-minute run. When I first started out, I seriously didn't think I was going to get very far. My legs were already yelling at me. But, about half a mile into the run, they loosened up and it felt good. What's the Deal With the Road Trip? I am really glad I got the workouts done early. I feel like I still have so much to do to get ready ...
