C'est la Vie and It's Good

Ok, today was sort of sad for me knowing that my time off is coming to an end. I was, however, giddy to try out one of my new Shock Cardio workouts. I chose The Cardio Core Circuit workout. It says 50 minutes, but it's really more like 42 minutes of cardio. I was hoping for a little longer workout with higher calorie burn, but for 42 minutes, I burned 376 calories. This is definitely not one for the beginners! It was a fun, fast-paced workout. There were a few moves that require diligence in terms of proper form. In other words, you could hurt yourself if you got sloppy. I can't wait to try to out the others. I think the next one on the list will be the HiiT workouts. I'm a sucker for punishment.

I managed to not get one thing one my to-do list done over my break. Good or bad, c'est la vie right?! I did, however, enjoy my time off. I enjoyed time with my family and with my husband. That's far more important than any nit-picky list. I did do the usual chores like laundry, dusting, swiffering (a must with 2 cocker spaniels), vacuuming, the fun stuff. I didn't get any sewing done, and I didn't try any new recipes with the exception of Christmas dinner.

Today, Jason and I debated over going to a movie. That didn't happen. Instead he took me to DSW. He really does love me! LOL. Yep, found some shoes. It's almost impossible to not find something you NEED from that place. Dinner was Sweet Potato and Black Bean Stuffed Poblanos. This time I did mash the beans and potatoes and omitted the cream cheese.

Oh, and for fans of Clif Bars, if you haven't tried their seasonal flavors, you really must seek them out! Thank you Anna for reminding me to post product reviews. I keep meaning to, thinking about it, and forgetting. Jason and I found these tasty treats a few days ago at Whole Foods:  Cranberry Orange Nut Bread and Spiced Pumpkin Pie. Yum, Yum, Yum. Not much else to say!

And for those who love Kashi brand, you must try the new GOLEAN Crisp, Toasted Berry Crumble.I couldn't find the product on their site or I would have posted the direct link. This one is tasty, but not as filling (to me) as their whole wheat biscuits. It is, however, divine sprinkled over Greek yogurt or over Sweet Tofu Yogurt

  1. Good Morning Heather,

Good for you relaxing on your time off and not worrying about your to do list! Sometimes you just need to relax and enjoy time with your hubby, family and friends. In the end that is what is important in life.

    talk to you later,
    Alicia

  2. I really want to try that new Kashi cereal!! I haven't seen it yet, but I also haven't shopped for cereal yet haha. Hooray for seasonal Cliffs!! I love those two flavors. Gingerbread was just meh for me.

  3. Allie I found it at Target. I wasn't cereal shopping either, but it definitely made it's way home with me! I didn't see the Gingerbread flavor, but that doesn't really sound terribly appealing to me anyway. Now I just wish I'd picked up more of the flavors I did get.

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
