Sunday Leg Day
Well with the time change, I woke up already behind for the day. Isn't that a daunting feeling. While I really didn't feel much up to it, I did manage to do my leg workout and then an easy run with Jason and the pups. This was their 2nd true run with us so it was still a little (or lot) herky jerky with lots of sudden stops and de-tangling. Legs were from Cathe's Pyramid Lower Body (sans DVD). It was the same workout I did last Sunday. 12, 10, 8, 10, 12 increasing then decreasing the weight with as little rest in between each rep.
Step Ups
Static Lunges
Squats into Plie Squats
Deadlifts
Calf Raises(3 sets of 25 reps)
Needless to say, the run wasn't going to be a fast or easy one even if we hadn't taken the dogs along with us. My legs were feeling a little heavy and wobbly.
Sunless Sunday
Today was supposed to have been sunny. Surprise, mostly cloudy. It was at least 5 degrees warmer than yesterday. We had to go to the grocery store after working out then it was on to trying to tackle some yard work. We cut back rose bushes, cleared out the garden beds and flower pots, and did a ton of weeding. We still have quite a bit left to do. We didn't even make it to the front yard. I'm really hoping for good weather next weekend so we can get more work done outside. It's also a good excuse to ignore laundry, dusting, sweeping!
Even though it wasn't sunny, we were determined to take advantage of the extended daylight. I mean, really that's the only good thing about the time change. So we decided to grill out for dinner. Jason actually sort of forced me to take a break from cooking duties and just relax. It was seriously hard for me not to get my hands in the mix. He made Grilled Tempeh and Veggie Sandwiches with Grilled Sweet Potato "Fries." For the tempeh marinade, he used a chipotle honey mustard thinned out with champagne vinegar. Veggies included squash, zucchini, and red onion. It was served on Orowheat Sandwich Thins with fresh spinach and provolone cheese.
I certainly hope everyone had a great weekend no matter what the weather was like where you are!
those fries look delish and glad you wanted or tried to take advantage of the extra daylight! woot! xoxo

Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean it was sooo hard to just sit back, but I did pretty good. I did plate the food for the pics though.
ReplyDeleteCandice @ ChiaSeedMe look forward to reading about how you did your marinade. I will say that this particular chipotle honey mustard was super sticky!

ReplyDeleteSTEP UPS>>> love to hate them! YOWCH! I have had step ups in my plan every Friday for the last 4 weeks....a brutal way to end the week. But they do wonders for the hams and glutes so I suck it up and get er done!
ReplyDeleteyummy fries! What kind of dogs do you have? I think running with dogs make the run so much better!
ReplyDeleteI just loved grilled veggie sandwiches. I have made something similar a while back..I will definitely have to make it again!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Naomi @ One Fit Foodie I can see how tempeh isn't for everyone! It's finally sunny here today so I know I'll be appreciating the time change tonight!
ReplyDeleteJoanna Sutter @ Fitness and Spice yep, steps ups are a love/hate thing for me too! You're so right, you just have to get 'er done period!
Lisa @ I'm an Okie we have 2 cocker spaniels. They LOVE going on walks and really need more exercise, so we're hoping to get them used to running with us.
Kristen @ Swanky Dietitian we make lots of grilled veggie sandwiches when the weather is nice. Love 'em too! Some of my favorite combos are portobellos with red bell pepper and goat's cheese.
I can't help it! Rainy weather always puts me down a bit.
