Take Me Out to the Ballgame...

TGIF Workouts
This morning Jason got up at 5 am to go swim. I was awake, not chance of going back to sleep really, so I got up and did just the first 3 combos from Low Impact Circuit Cardio Only Premix plus abs. It was a good workout that got me moving and energized for the day.

Jason and I had planned a lunchtime run again. They've sort of become addicting to be honest. It's just so nice to get outside for 30 minutes, especially after being stuck inside with no windows and the AC on sub-zero. Just a refreshing change and great way to spend some time with the hubs.

No Pizza Friday
If you read my post yesterday, you read that there will not be a Pizza Friday. What??? Of course, I made up for that by making the the Grilled Thai Tofu Pizza for Thai Thursday. I must have my weekly pizza fix of course.

I'm not really sure what I'll be doing for dinner as we're going to a baseball game - The Arkansas Travelers - with another couple. I obviously won't be ordering hot dogs and, while they do have pizza, it's just plain cheese (or meat of course) and super greasy. If I'm going to have pizza, it needs to at least be good. I am meeting a friend before the game, so I will try to find a salad at the very least. I'm really trying not to let myself get unnecessarily stressed about dinner. I just don't want to settle for a crummy salad then be starving and binge on nachos or soft pretzels at the game. Of course, there was a time when I thought jalapenos with a side of nachos (I say this b/c I cover nachos with jalapenos like I may never get another one in my life) was the only way to enjoy the game. However, I really do need to keep in mind that if I do have a few bites of a pretzel, it's not the end of the world. Anyway...

I'm not typically a baseball (or sports) fan to be honest. However, there is something about going to the minor league game, spending the evening outside that I just love. Of course, the cold beer doesn't hurt now does it?

Lots of questions because I'm feeling nosy:
Are you a big sports fan?
Do you enjoy baseball games for the sport, for the food, or the atmosphere?
Do you let yourself indulge at sporting events?

Sorry for the short, pictureless post! Hope it wasn't TOOOO boring. ;-)

  2. Have fun this evening!

I am not much of a sports fan to be honest.

We did used to have season tickets to the Orioles game but only really went as an excuse to be outside.

There has never been anything at the ballpark that I could eat so I stopped looking. I eat before we go now or take some snacks in my purse.

    talk to you later,
    Alicia

  3. I LOVE college football games. Other things I am not extremely into watching. We do go out together to our local minor league hockey and baseball games with a group of friends a couple of times a year and I love it. Mainly for the fun and different social interaction. But put me at a college football game (specifically SEC) and don't you bother trying to have social time. I am into the game. LOL

And I think if you really like the pretzels or something else at the game then you SHOULD get it and enjoy it. Still eat something for a meal beforehand, but don't stress about still being a little hungry and getting something you like at the game. I refuse to stress myself over food when I should be focusing on my friends and loved ones. So don't allow yourself to do that either.

  6. Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel I think I only enjoy it b/c I love being outside. I don't play any sports at all!!! Too big of a klutz LOL

Thanks Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean I know we'll have a great time. We're going with great friends so how could it not be fun?!

Tina @ Tina Bit of Faith Fitness and Fun I'm with you on the social aspect. Too funny about you and SEC Football. That's serious business in the south!

And I am going to remember your 4th installment post tonight!!!

Fit and Forty Something my hubby loves to watch cycling too. I just don't get it, don't get nascar with though. Glad the post wasn't a total snoozer ;-)

  7. nice job on the swim this morning!!

to be honest me and Jason arent the biggest sports fans! I will jump at tix to go to a sox game during the summer, but i will never go out of my way to go to a game of any kind!

  8. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg Sounds like we could definitely enjoy a baseball game together!

Naomi @ One Fit Foodie I soooo wasn't the one who swam. Jason is the crazy one to do that LOL. I just did step aerobics. I think another reason why I LOVE to go see the Travs is b/c my dad used to take my sister and me all the time as kids. So there are lots of memories associated with it as well.

  9. HEY Girlie!!
I highly recommend the glasses I just got! they are from SportsAuthority, the brand is Arsenal Optix, they felt lighter and fit more snug than the nike or underarmour..and they were only 35$!! So I don't mind sweating all over them! hehe!
I hope you are having a fabulous friday!!
~and YES pizza is definitely a noteworthy delish favorite food! :)
    ~xoxo!

  10. not a sporting event fan...at all. They bore me AND there are too many loud drunk men. Therefore, I want to run outta there asap! And honestly back in the day i used to drink alot but being around drunks while sober (these days) would not be too fun :)

    Enjoy the weekend honey!

  11. I am a huge sports fan, but definitely more a football fan. But there's something about going to a baseball game that is so fantastically summery.. definitely do it for the atmosphere. And indulging.. not in season :p

  12. my husband loves baseball - i will go with him to a game, but i am very much into the food and that's about it.

  13. Lizzy @ Healthy Bites Conquer Athlete Appetite Thanks so much for the sunglasses heads up. Think I'll be making a trip to Sports Authority today!

Averie @ Loves Veggies and Yoga surprisingly enough, it's typically tame at the game in terms of drunk men. Except perhaps in the "Beer Garden" which is also the smoking section. Maybe because it's minor league and lots of families there.

Alyson @ Nourished Fitness baseball most definitely signifies summer doesn't it!!

Hi The Actors Diet ! Thanks so much for stopping by. Isn't it funny how everyone has their own reason for going to the ballgames? Some actually go for the game, others for the atmosphere, food, or socializing. I look forward to reading through your blog by the way.

  15. i LOVE baseball (i played for most of my life on a guys team!!) and so giong to games makes me want to start playing again. i don't indulge at games, but i'm having too much fun to care about food anyways :) hope you had fun!

  16. Kris @ iheartwellness Hope you're having a great day! We had a minor league hockey team here for a short bit. We really enjoyed going to the games, though I know NOTHING about hockey. I think it's the atmosphere. I can't imagine not eating pizza LOL

Fit Lizzio I've never been good at sports. I can imagine that watching the game could make you want to play. When I watch a ballet, it makes me really miss dancing.

  17. Hope you had a blast at the game! I'm the same - I get nervous about what options there will be for food at the game but I try to either eat something beforehand or pick my battle - try to find something that isn't HORRIBLY bad for me but something that's still relatively healthy and tasty too. Last time I was pleasantly surprised to find they had turkey tips. Score! ;)

  18. Love sports...all of it! ESPN is my favorite TV channel and I can go toe to toe with ANY man when it comes to professional football! I am definitely a "boy" when it comes to sports!!

  19. Jessica @ EatDrinkBreatheSweat If I ate meat I'd have more options - some not terribly unhealthy. I think that as long as you stay away from the double sized chili dog with side of funnel cake, you're probably doing pretty good LOL

Kelly @ Healthy Living with Kelly too funny on going toe to toe! Sometimes I wished I enjoyed sports more.

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
