Finished Weight Rotation!

Two on Thursday
I managed another morning workout today. I did one of the premixes from Cathe's Step Blast. It's always a fun, sweaty workout. I love it when cardio can be fun as well as intense - makes the time go so much faster.

I went home for a late lunch and did weights. It was my final day of the 8-week rotation. Can't believe I'm already finished with it! Today was 3 sets or 12 reps done as supersets with the goal of increasing the weights.

SS#1
Biceps - Zottoman curls
Triceps - Weighted dips

SS#2
Legs - Squats
Inner thighs - Plie squats

SS#3
Chest - Flat bench dumbbell press
Back - Underhand dumbbell rows

SS#4
Legs - Alternating lunges with pulse
Calves - Calf raises

SS#5
Shoulders - Upright (dumbbell) rows
Shoulders - Rear delt raises

So the rotation is officially done. Wow. Now I need to figure out my next lifting rotation. Suggestions?

Happy Hour on Thursday???
I'm very glad I was able to get my workouts done earlier as we were meeting some friends after work for a Thursday Happy Hour. I don't typically go out during the week to be honest. I need to try enjoy the weekdays more to be quite honest. Typically, I just work, workout, go home. I'm in PJ's by 5 at the latest. I don't know why I have it stuck in my head that hanging out and catching up with friends is somehow reserved for the weekends. Of course we had a good time. It was at a Mexican restaurant and I did good and only had a few chips with salsa. Normally I can't keep my hands out of the chips/dips!

Do you like to go out during the week?

Since we were home a little later (or a lot, 7pm) than normal, dinner was simple. I reheated the last of the Black Bean & Beet burgers (last of all of my frozen stash of veggie burgers actually) with Sweet Potato "Fries." Guess this weekend I'll be making more veggie burgers...

Now it's almost time for the 3-day weekend!

I love going out during the week-- probably because we so rarely do it! It's always a nice little burst of fun and surprise.

Glad you had a fun workout-- that definitely make it go by much faster!

  4. I like going out during the week, but the weekend is better because you can linger longer. Glad you had a good time.

Wow, that rotation is finished already. That is amazing. Time flies, when I am reading about your working out that is, LOL. ;-) Can't wait to read about your next rotation. BTW, I had to look up Zottoman curls as you introduced me to those. Thanks! Also, love the plie squats, those are a personal favorite.

Oh no, no more frozen veggie burgers. You have to fix that soon. ;-)

    hugs,
    Ali

  5. Megan @ The Oatmeal Diaries Thanks girl - I seriously need to get out more LOL!

Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg Maybe it's best when you don't do it frequently, but do allow yourself to enjoy it when you do.

Lizzy @ Fit Lizzio So glad I'm not the only homebody! Sometimes it makes me feel so old though LOL

Alicia @ Vegan Epicurean I totally agree with you on the lingering longer. Maybe that's more my issue with the week night deal. Oh, gotta try those Zottoman curls! I'll do those any day over preacher curls ;-)

  10. I must remind myself to make some burgers and freeze them. What a great lunch idea to have as well! Ryan is trying to "bulk" up vegan style so I will make a bunch of them for him to take for the week :)

    Happy long weekend!

I don't like doing things during the week. I'm a homebody..especially now that I love my house :)

I just bought Cathe's Athletic Step(being delivered to my old address grrr) and Cardio Core Circuit! WOOHOO!

  12. Averie @ Loves Veggies and Yoga You're very welcome - just thought I'd let you know that I could really tell how happy you are!!

Lesley @ Lesley Lifting Life That's the one downfall of reading blogs with food pics!!

Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel What? You like sweet potatoes???? LOL.

Jessica @ Living in the Kitchen, Gym and Mall Oh it's not even about having a drink really. I don't even want to go out to dinner. I just want to be home in my comfy pjs with hair out of my face LOL!!

Kris @ iheartwellness If he's wanting super protein, try adding quinoa to them as well. And I use the flax "egg" trick with mine. They make for such a handy, easy meal!

April @ The Weigh I Am I love Athletic Step and the cardio only premix from Core Cardio. Hope you have loads of fun with those too!!!

Can I just say I'm super jealous of your work schedule - you have so much more time to do things for YOU and with your hubby than I do during the week! That's it, time for a new job ;) Seriously though, congrats on the completed rotation and nice work on not overindulging in the chips/salsa - those are my downfall at mexican restaurants!!

  14. I swear you and I work out just alike...it is weird! I feel like such an idiot when I do step though. I make up my own thing and just have fun with it! I am a home body. I don't like going out on the weekdays. I am getting better about it, but that is really because I am getting better with my diet. It was hard when we just found out about our food intolerances/allergies.

    Enjoy your long weekend!

  15. Keith and I RARELY go out during the week because we both are up at 4:30 in the morning. I need my sleep!! haha!

  16. Thursdays are ingrained in my head as College Night because most of the college kids at my school didn't have classes on Fridays. So we could party like it was a Friday but do it on a weekday happy hour budget : P

  17. I love beet burgers! I'll have to cook these up this weekend. We're up at 4:30am as well so going out is hard during the week. :)

we had happy hour too but at our house-it was great....and congrats on finishing your weight rotation!

  19. Those burgers look fab!

So in your routines are they all full body like this?

  20. Jessica @ EatDrinkBreatheSweat I am very proud of the chip thing - seriously maybe had 5 and that isn't 5 bowls, but 5 chips! I probably take it too much for granted my schedule. Thanks for that reminder.

Sarena @ The Non-Dairy Queen Oh it does make a difference when you are on a different type of diet - being vegetarian is definitely not always easy when it comes to going out. Kind of funny about the workouts isn't it?! Maybe it's just our age???

Kelly @ Healthy Living with Kelly Ouch that's early. Part of the not wanting to go out is the time I wake up too. Not that early mind you, but I'm at work by 7am

Evelyn @ Cheers to Healthy That's funny about the Thurs night party night. I didn't do the traditional college thing - no dorms or on campus life so I kind of missed out on that. But friends that were at other colleges were always going out on Thurs!

Lindsay @ Cotter Crunch I just don't know that I could manage 4:30am! I'd love to see your beet burger recipe.

Kalli @ Fit and Forty Something Thanks!! Happy hour at home is definitely a good thing in my opinion! You get the food you want, the wine you want and it's sooo much cheaper (and can occur in PJs).

Kristine @ Busy But Healthy No, I don't typically do full body. This was just a rotation that did 3 total body workouts - supposed to have been 1 exercise per muscle group. I switched it up to add additional leg work though.

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
