Sometimes I Feel Guilty. Sometimes I Don't.

Sometimes I feel guilty for sleeping in on the weekends. Sometimes I don't.
And why should I? Why brag about being up at 5 am even on the weekends rather than slowing down for a change, for not just hitting the ground running at full speed?
Sometimes I feel guilty for that extra glass of wine. Sometimes I don't.
Really no explanation needed here. Yes, I know the plethora of articles existing about wine and women. One article says it's good for the heart, another says no, and another says I'll get breast cancer. At some point you have to live and enjoy. And I enjoy a glass of wine.
Sometimes I feel guilty for not having a spotless home. Sometimes I don't.
No, I don't want to live in a pig's sty, nor do I. Yes, I'd love my home to look like one from a magazine, but in reality, sometimes it's more important to focus on something for myself, like reading or even watching a tv show.
Sometimes I feel guilty for not wanting to blog or engage in social media. Sometimes I don't.
I truly believe we should all log off, totally disconnect more often. Let's try actually living rather than writing or reading about it.
It's so easy to put so many unnecessary pressures on ourselves, thus adding in unnecessary guilt. Sometimes we just need to cut ourselves some slack. Plain and simple.

What are some of your "Sometimes?" Do you allow yourself let go of unnecessary guilt?

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th...

Baked Burritos for Mexican Monday

Salad Sunday First off, Jason and I want to thank everyone for your congrats regarding his triathlon on Sunday. It means a lot having so much support. Last night I ended up turning on the oven after all. It was cooler than grilling. I roasted up some veggies: red and green bell peppers, onions, sweet potato, squash, and zucchini along with some tofu for a Roasted Veggie Salad . The tofu was awesome. It's a new brand, or rather, one we have not tried before - Twin Oaks Community Foods Organic Tofu "Fine Herb" . Jason picked it up from the Argenta Market . This was an awesome tofu actually. It didn't need to be frozen, pressed, or anything. It was already "dry." I simply cubed it and baked it for about 25 minutes at 425 degrees flipping at least once. We will most definitely be buying this one again. Monday Workouts This morning I knew I wasn't going to be getting up for any workouts. While I am getting more consistent about getting up early for m...
