Lazy Sunday

Hubby Does Triathlon, I Do Weights & Boxing
This morning Jason got up super early to head down to Lake DeGray for this triathlon. I feel like the bad wife, I stayed behind and slept in until about 8 am. He gave me the OK to stay home for this one though. He hadn't been training like he normally would and knew it wouldn't be his best race. However, for someone not properly training and with the heat we had again today, he came in 36 over all out of approximately 180. I know he's not really happy with his time in general, but I am still proud.

I got up and did legs today with a quad focus. I did drop sets of 4x10 unless noted.

Squats
Static Lunges
Step Ups
Squats with low-end pulse - 8 single, 4 3-count pulse, 2 7-count pulse, 8 single
Static lunges with low-end pulse - 8 single, 4 3-count pulse, 2 7-count pulse, 8 single
Fire walkers - 8 reps
Side slide lunges - 3x10
Outer thigh raises with ankle weights - 24 single, 16 little pulse, 24 single

I finished the workout off with Cathe Friedrich's MMA Boxing and a long stretch.

Major Lazy Sunday

After my workout, I ate then headed outside for some more patio and pool time (and reading). I was pretty lazy today with the exception of my workout. After Jason got home, he wanted to go eat at Vino's. So that's what we did. One of our friends (who also did the race this morning as well) joined us. We just sat back and relaxed for a few hours doing some major people watching and catching up.

I had really planned on spending some time in the kitchen making seitan and possibly veggie burgers. But right now we can't get the kitchen below 81 degrees without any cooking going on. So, needless to say, boiling beans and seitan would definitely not be a pleasant thing. We are supposed to have cooler weather by Tuesday - as in highs only being 96. I am really hoping this pans out so I can get some cooking done. We are completely out of veggie burgers right now, and I really want to have some extra seitan on hand as well.

Dinner tonight will likely end up being some sort of salad. We probably not going to do any grilling, but we'll see. Because we had such a late lunch, I don't know what time we'll even feel like eating.  It's really hard to even get excited about cooking and eating when it's so hot. My appetite has taken a total nose dive to be quite honest.

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

  7. I really hate squats. :( I love working my legs, but squats are the devil.

I had a semi-productive but mostly lazy Sunday. I cleaned the casa, went to the pool, cooked, and did a few 20 minute yoga sessions. Nothing major.

  10. I think lazy Sundays should be the rule not the exception. We all need time to relax before starting the week. You should not feel the slightest bit quilty.

Sorry to hear about your weather. I hope it cools down a little soon so you can get back into the kitchen.

Congrats to Jason for showing up in this heat. I would have bailed for sure. You should be proud of him!

I Run to Feel Alive

Today is National Running Day . Guess what I did this morning? Cycling? Nope. Lifting? Nope. I bet you thought kickboxing right? Nope. Running? But of course! I actually sort of planned my running days this week just so I could participate this year. I didn't get to run last year and didn't even know about it the year before. But running has become such an integral part of my life and who I am, that I couldn't miss this year. Basically, I run to feel alive . It calms me, it helps me work through life, it's often a reason to get out of bed. No matter how tough a run is, it makes you feel ... period. My plan was to get in 5 miles (got in 5.5 actually). It was about 10 degrees warmer this morning and definitely more humid. That always makes for a tougher run. We decided to take a different route today. Well, it was really only a few streets over different, but still. The point is we took a different street. Sometimes that's good, sometimes not. I did realize th

Vacation Day 2 - Running, Reading, Relaxing

Running This morning I woke up a bit before 7 am. Of course, we had gone to sleep by 9....on vacation no less. I had thought I might try for an outdoor run, but the temps were already a humid 83 degrees by 8 am. So, I took my run to the treadmill. I had the Food Network to keep me occupied for a pretty decent 5 mile run. Running and watching tv isn't so bad ;-) I did 3 miles, then 4 1:00 athletic intervals then finished up another mile to round it out to and even 5. After stretching and rolling (yep, brought my TriggerPoint kit ), we packed up the cooler with lunch and headed down to the beach. Not a bad way to start the day if you ask me. Beach Time & Stair Cardio We set up our little umbrella camp and proceeded to just relax. I was excited to start one of the books I brought along with me: Alice Sebold's The Almost Moon . I've read her memoir, Lucky , and her first work of fiction, The Lovely Bones . . We were out for a few hours before taking a break.
